Greetings people...

I had a quick search on here and couldn't find anything on painting porcelain white armour. My next project will be a 2nd Ed Eldar army, and I'd really like a nice clean porcelain white armour with a popping bright green accent. The trouble is my ideas normally fall foul because I'm not the greatest painter.

So, has anyone got a good tip or can anyone point me in the general direction of a good tut on painting a glossy white? Cheers guys and gals.

Well the simplest way i can think of is to just paint the model white, then hit it with gloss varnish

But the way id do it is prime grey, base coat white, leaving the grey in the shadow, paint gems and green accents, line osl on the sides that would reflect it. hit the whole thing with gloss varnish, hand varnish areas you want to be matt (like the guns or helms or whatever) with matt varnish.

Edit: This is assuming you have an airbrush, if not testors makes some ok varnish in aerisol cans.

it takes time to do white crisply - lots and lots of thin layers to build up to pure white.
I'd suggest undercoating white, do a wash of green, and then highlight back up to white.
Have a look at the last two pages of my main P&M blog - I've just finished painting Irillyth with a white scheme.

If I were an Eskimo, I'd build my igloo next to a supermarket on a tropical beach.

Thanks guys, I'll take it all on board. Time is not an issue, I work 12 hours a day 5-6 days a week. So I'm not in a rush to get these done!

Thanks for the tips Finnan. I've been keeping a casual eye on your plog for a while now and I'll be sure to pop on over and have a gander!

Oh, and I don't have an airbrush yet, but planning on buying one in the near future. In the meantime I do have access to one. So no biggy...

Easy bruv, I'd do a white basecoat and then paint in the green with old school Scorpion Green with a green wash, maybe purple to add more depth and then neaten up any areas of white. Dark green gems and no idea on the catapults/weapons

I'll get a small set of guardians and try a few things, then let you have the rest to practice
