Well, this is a shameless duplicate posting from my thread in the blog subforum. However, it's difficult to get much in the way of views or C&C due to the activity of the blog posters there. The thread got buried pretty quickly.

So, in a effort to cultivate some tips and tricks I present for the pseudo-first time, a squad of models that have been seen many times before and will see many times again: the DV Deathwing Terminator Squad.

Please see my other thread if you want to see how badly I messed up on some of the technical aspects.

Thanks!

Those look beautiful. If I was to nitpick, and I mean that, I would say those bases are way to tempting to leave blank. I would dress them up a little. But again thats being nitpicky. Those models are gorgeous man. Nice Job

Good call. The bases are crackle medium (the GW kind) and don't show very well in the pictures.

However, I should put some grass tufts down... That would be a nice touch me thinks.

Because of the colour of the models and how it blends with the base i would put a nice brown wash over the crackle effect. i do it and it makes for a really rich dirt colour. Otherwise awesome models dude!!!

Will adding the wash to the crackle medium cause it to mud up?

What do you mean by "mud up" in regards to the wash? It'll darken the stuff and pool in the recesses, where you want it to be darker anyway.

I'm asking if the wash will make the crackle medium turn into a sludge and lose the cracked earth look?

It might do that. But could you maybe add a lighter dry brush? maybe some grit or the army painter waste land tuffed grass.

Those marines look FANTASTIC. You will be very happy with a little base dressing.Great job

Good work. A lot better than what I managed to do with those terminators.
