Subject: full inquisition?

Greetings!
I have reviewed a handful of the discussions pertaining to the use of multiple detachments. However I would like to revisit with a question slightly different ... would the following be a legal battle-forged list:
3 Primary detachments:
Each consisting of 1) inquisitor
Each inquisitor having a different ally
Zenos: C:SM
Hereticus: AS
Maleus: GK
This is legal yes?
Thanks for your patience & answer
Koth

Only 1 would be your primary detachment. The other 2 would just be 2 more Inquisitorial detachments. They wouldn't each take an allied detachment you'd just select 3 allied detachments. For instance you could take a formation as your primary detachment and then 3 allied detachments should you wish. Each detachment is selected individually and you can have as many as you want and each can be from any codex (unless the detachment has restrictions i.e. allied detachments can't be same faction as your primary detachment).

Actually, it's not legal. From =][=, "The Emperor's Will," "Including Inquisitors in Your Army." "If you take Inquisitors as a primary detachment, use the Inquisitorial detachment Force Organisation chart.... Alternatively, an army may include an Inquisitorial detachment in addition to any other detachments." Note that you may only take one Primary Detachment in 7e, and that is covered in the 'dex: One INQ Detachment if it's Primary. If Inquisition isn't Primary, then you may take ONE Inquisitorial Detachment (note the singular article "an"). You may not take a Primary AND another, because of the word "alternatively," meaning you can either have Primary INQ, or Inquisitorial Detachment, but not both in the same list, and certainly not more than one. ACTUALLY Black Library just updated the Codex! Woot! So none of what I said is relevant any longer. Yep, your list is legal, with the exception of only one being a Primary Detachment. I'll take back my "woot" though, because there are still terrible problems with the book. For example: while Psyflame is described, it is not listed as a Vehicle Upgrade. And while Psybolts are listed as an upgrade, there is no description on what the upgrade does.

Do keep in mind only one Detachment is considered the 'primary,' and it will be the one containing your Warlord.

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures. |
