On Two Wheels

As I don't feel like spending the money on a new Ork Battlewagon, I figure I'd cobble one up from stuff I already have. The base will be an IG Basilisk. Now, to build up from there. The width is fine with me, but the height and length are not nearly close to what i want. I have a box full of trukk/battlewagon side armor and some wheels. I want to match the height (~3-5") and the length (~6-7") as close as I can.

What I am looking for is advice and general comments on how to do this. I will have a ram on the front to help make it look longer. I can extend the rear with the armor plates, as well as build up the rear deck. I have to build around the big gun so that's a definite constraint. I'll be posting pictures as I go along.

Cheers.

I recommend using a couple of large wheels at the front for a half-track look. Definitely sort out the wheels and their extended chassis mounting first - it will then be relatively easy to build the body around them and the tracks.

If the Basilisk hull front isn't already glued on, moving it forwards to become the new cab front would be good. But it's not essential - you'll be building most of a new body anyway.

You mention 'the big gun' - you mean the standard basilisk gun, which you'll presumably count-as a killkannon? Ok, but using the standard mount means its arc of fire (front only) will be very limited. Personally I'd put a killkannon in a turret instead, for firing flexibility.
