So I'm in the middle of painting up a wraith list I came up with and while I'm aware of some issues I can see with it such as speed, durability, fighting poison, etc, I was thinking I could probably mitigate those through play slightly. But, I was after general opinions about the list.

2 Spiritseer

10 Wraithguard

10 Wraithguard

Wraithknight

Wraithlord
2 shuriken cannon, flamers

Wraithlord
2 shuriken cannon, flamers

Crimsonhunter
Exarch, starcannons

Which works out to be exactly 1500. The general idea is each of the wraithguard units will have a spirit seer hiding within them to buff (hopefully get invisible but obviously not relying on that) making use of cover or sort of being anchors on objectives. The WK, CH and WLs will provide needed support for the core of this army sort of focusing more on elite infantry than on vehicles, but not ignoring that threat either too much. The hunter I figure would help better this way on both other lightly armoured flyers and also on infantry better than the dual lance default. I'd have Dsythes on the guard to help, but I figured the number of models I was putting on the board would be too little with that. I'm also trying to avoid using wave serpents which will make it more of a challenge.

A lot of the lists I've seen around here tend to be on foot, the most common I face happens to be a DE wych cult I'm confident this can handle but I'm not looking to build the list specifically to fight certain lists. If anything I've allowed in weaknesses to make for more interesting games against them.

Well, fast armies will fly circles around you picking targets at leisure.
I'd take as a core:
2x 5 Wraithguard with wraithcannons, 1x 5 Wraithguard w/ D scythes, 5 Pathfinders, 1 Wraithknight, 1 Crimson Hunter.

I would take duel BL on the WLs, BL on crimson hunter (unless exarch and there is no enemy air).

Well, I usually judge an army what it can do in the first round.
Your army can just move into position and fire the weapons of the Wraithlords.
This means that the enemy can move unhindered into position. Not a good prospect.

I'm currently painting up a foot Iyanden force too and saw the short ranged weaponry of the Guard my first major weakness. With that in mind I opted for a more firepower approach to my support. I have the Suncannon/SL on WK for the invuln save and the only effective counter to MEQ etc at range. My 2 WLs have a scatter laser and a brightlance (magnetized so can change). I opted for that instead of dual brightlance so that an AT WL wouldn't get picked on first and lose all of my ranged AT in one round. The biggest issue I'm finding right now is paying 160+pts for a unit to sit on my objectives with a weapon with max range 12". I think adding some Rangers will help to hold those cheaply.

I'm hoping to put mine on the table in 2 weeks, but still have a lot of painting to do (we like to play with fully painted armies only). Due to points, I will probably add a Farseer initially until I get more painted.

HQ Farseer, wraithforge stone 130
2 Spirit Seers, guardian helm 155

5 WG 160
5 WB 160
5 WG, D-scythes 210
5 Rangers 60

WL, SL, BL, glaive 165
WL, SL, BL 160
WK, suncannon/SL 300

have another unit of 5 WG but probably won't have time to paint them.

Generally, I would stick WG with D-scythes into a Serpent and give the WK its default weapons. A Jetseer with guide could improve his effectiveness.

Some nice suggestions so far.
I was going with the 10 man cause I figured the 5 man would be sort of too small and fragile on foot, but if they work decent enough like that that's a good quick change I can do. Scythes I really like so being able to fit them in sounds good to me. Like many if they weren't an all of nothing upgrade I'd have a few in every squad at least.

And I'd have to agree, if I wasn't going to restrict with the WSs I'd have 5 WG with scythes in each with something like a shuriken cannon or something on it, not so sure.
WK I like default best, has some reasonable tank and knight punching reach to it. It starts to get a bit expensive once you change out the defaults and the 5+ invul sounds nice, but I could probably get the same performance from that by paying attention to how it's positioned at times.

The hunter was the trickier bit cause I wasn't so sure, I was fine keeping it as default and originally was going to go with dual SL WLs, but decided to go with the exarch for the starcannons instead of the lances because I figured that would work just as well on other 10-12 flyers, but give me more shots for infantry as well. Which the lack of mobility is something I can't really let get too out of hand. Warlord I figure I'll keep as the WK for this, more durable than the seers which will be more of the vanguard. I'm lucky in that there aren't many mobile lists around here really.

Might give the pathfinders a try, I've tried rangers in other lists but they've been a bit of a disappointment at times. They have paid off at other times as well however. Warp spiders are another option I have as well for more mobile fire support, as well as anti-flyer. And once it gets to the 2k level I wouldn't really mind about tossing a couple of WS in for some scythes.
