Hey guys I've run out of airbrush cleaner and need to give my brush a proper deep clean got a phone call mid paint session and paint has dried in my brush.
Got the majority out with isopropyl but want to put it In the ultrasonic to get it really clean.
Now I know you shouldn't put anything with ammonia through the brush but the Mr Muscle window cleaner I've got says its safe to use on chrome. Can't see ammonia anywhere on the label but does any1 know if it does contain it

Looked at the online data sheet and it doesn't say ammonia might try one of my cheap brushes that came with the compressor and see what happens

There are plenty of ammonia-free glass cleaners, but they usually advertise that fact. If it says it's safe on chrome, it's likely ammonia-free, but advertised somewhat unconventionally.

Regardless, I wouldn't consider it an issue - leaving your brush sitting in the stuff for a week might cause problems, but it's generally safe to use products containing small-ish amounts of ammonia (Windex, etc.) for shorter soaks or shooting through to clean during use. Test it, just to be safe, but I think you should be fine.

The heat and fumes kinda a confined space id be wasted lol.
Watered down the glass cleaner and let the ultrasonic do the work didn't realise how ready for a good deep clean my brush was.
Works a treat again now.
For future reference Mr Muscle window cleaner is safe on the chrome finish

Ah, fair enough

Out of interest, what was your ratio of water:cleaner and what cycle did you put it on?

About 50/50 wasn't measuring though
Stuck it in for 45mins in total it was pretty bad so I kept doing 15min cycles then rinsing it out, a quick soak in IPA, rinse and back in for 15 more mins

I would advise against putting your airbrush into a solvent or ultra sonic cleaner or both. I would recommend putting your needle, aircap and fluid nozzle in cleaner.

the airbrush internals have lubricant on them that the ultrasonic cleaner + solvent/soap will strip. Then the action on your brush will be drier than a mummy's backside in the middle of a drought.

I lubricate all moving parts with sewing machine oil and ensure a tight seal on all my threads by using a small amount of ptfe paste it's like the tape plumbers use but can be applied with a brush
