Hi all I'm fairly new to Xwing and have only played a few games at my local club and will be attending a tournament soon so worked out two lists that I like but can't decide which to take so any advice is welcome

List 1
Garven Dreis 26 points

Wedge Antilles, shield upgrade, expose, R2-D6, swarm tactics 40 points

Luke Skywalker, veteran instincts, R2-D2 33 points

99 point total

List 2

Chewbacca, veteran instincts, mercenary copilot, Luke Skywalker, shield upgrade 56 points

2x blue squadron pilots 22points each so 44points together

Total points 100

I think there's a fair bit of optimisation you could make to these squads whilst keeping the same flavour! Key is how do you create greater synergy amongst the pilots - for example in list 1 whilst a focus token from Garven is always useful how could you make it really count?

So looking at list 1, you cannot equip R2-D6 on Wedge because he already has the Elite Pilot Talent on his upgrade bar. I would definitely lose Expose which is considered one of the weaker upgrades. Swarm remains handy to bring Garven up but you could also consider predator to maximise Wedge's offensive potential. With the astromech slot now available, how about R5-P9 to give him some durability (Wedge uses his own focus to attack then uses the one passed from Garven to regenerate a shield - you could even drop his EPT and go for a shield upgrade).

Unless you're expecting a lot of high PS, VI on Luke may not be necessary. How about then;

Garven 25pts, Wedge (R5-P9, Predator) 35pts, Luke (R2D2) 32pts (you then have 8 points left to buff further)

On list 2, Chewie and 2 B's is very popular but for my money I'd look to add a little to the B's and take some off the Falcon (Shield Upgrade for example is arguably overkill especially with Chewie's ability to avoid criticals). Consider Advanced Sensors or Fire Control system on the B's and then balance out Chewie's tankiness with offence, so how about;

2x Blue (FCS) 48pts, Chewbacca (VI, Gunner, C3-PO and Falcon Title) 52 pts


List 2 is quit a forgiving list as long as you keep everyone in the fight, anyway only my humble thoughts so feel free to take as you wish! Main thing is enjoy your first tourney in my still early experience it's a great community!

One of the locals was running a 2 X-wing and YT-1300 list last week, and I really liked it. It seemed very tanky, but still had some offense between the two X-Wings and the Falcon.

List was:
Luke - Swarm Tactics, R5-P9
Garven Dreis - Shield Upgrade, R2-D2
Outer Rim Smuggler - Gunner, Falcon

Garven and Luke should both be recovering a shield every turn (Garven after doing a green maneuver, and Luke at the end of the combat phase with a focus passed from Garven), and while the ORS is only 2 attack dice, Luke bumps him to PS8 and he gets a second chance at bypassing their defense dice if the first one fails.

Simple31 why can wedge not be given another elite pilot skill I can't find anywhere that it says this??

Also what is predator I don't seen to have that one which is odd since I have every ship available at the moment?

Legend, was just about to quote the R2-D6 card but saw your edit!

The Predator EPT is packaged with the TIE Defender, and reads "When attacking, you may reroll 1 attack die. If the defender's pilot skill value is "2" or lower, you may instead roll up to 2 attack dice" [3 pts]. It's almost akin to having a target lock on for all attacks which means focus becomes the obvious action choice.

I'm sure your first tournament will be great, as I said the community in my experience is great, let your opponent know it's your first time out and I'm sure they'll help you along!

I'd still recommend the chewie list for your first tourney as this will keep you in games, if you really want Wedge too (and who doesn't?), you could run something like;

Chewbacca (MF title, Gunner) [48]
Wedge (Swarm Tactics) [31]
Rookie Pilot [21]

Think I did something similar in my first tournament and went 4-2 to finish 6 out of 40, it's a pretty forgiving list! If I'd had a Z-95 at the time might have been tempted to throw one of them down instead of the rookie and get C-3PO on the Falcon too.
