I have finally finished this army to 'table top standard'

Very happy with some models, the Chaplain, assault squad and Storm Talon in particular, less in others.

Feel I have a learnt a hell of a lot of skills I can take and improve upon when I start my IG army soon.

Looks good enough to me

If I were being picky, I'd suggest a bit more of a highlight on the black, but as it is, this army will look good on the tabletop!

Yes I agree, I was brave enough to try highlighting on a few models but didn't feel the results were good enough.

When I start putting together my IG I will make much more of an effort to get highlighting down.

A friend of mine I have known since childhood came over the other night and saw my army (he also saw my army 10 odd years ago that was painted horribly) and couldn't believe I had done these which was a nice little ego boost!

I think the painting is fine for table-top.

However, the one thing that should be done to "quickly" elevate the job to finish the bases on every model - you'll be amazed how much better the force will look.

Agree with painting and possible texturing/flocking the bases. While not truly a tabletop level theng, drilling out the weapon barrles takes very little extra time and really improves the appearance. (well, I think so anyway)

Still looks better than many armies I have played against.

Thanks for the kind words, half-ish are based in the black tarmac stuff but a dakkanought pointed out that the black on black looks a bit rubbish which I agree with.

Hence I never sealed the bases I had done so they are peeling off.

I will get round to spending an afternoon with the hobby knife cleaning it all off in the next few weeks and re-basing them, probably with a simple snow flock for contrast.
