Somewhere along the line, somebody did something that either inspired you or helped you out with an aspect of the Hobby.
Here's your chance to give them a Shout-out. Maybe somebody that turned you onto the Hobby. Maybe your mom who drove you to those Saturday games.
Maybe one of the Black Library authors who's work made your army's fluff more awesome. Maybe Matt Ward. Maybe your significant other who 'lets you' play
or paint late into the night, or who helped your paint those last figures the night before a tournament. Maybe a mentor or friend who explained how the game works
or some sneaky strategy.
No negative comments or we'll turn you into the local Inquisitor...
My Shout-out goes to Bolt Gun Blount who runs the awesome Bolt Gun Battles in central Ohio. Always has the helpful suggestion even when you play against him. Way to be, dude.

My shoutout is to 7th giving Mephy the ability to be joined by tigarius or corbulo. That made me start BA again in a heartbeat.

North of your position

Mine goes to the designers of the multi-part plastic kits. I remember my first box of Tactical Marines several years ago, and feeling intimidated by the massive amounts of bits! I played lotr before, so yeah..

Nice idea for a thread.

Shout out to Yakface for owning an internet forum that lets me waste much time talking about miniatures games and other less important things.

Like watching other people play video games (badly) while blathering about nothing in particular? Check out my Youtube channel: joemamaUSA!

Shout out to Wolf at my FLGS for helping get me started on 40K when nobody else would. He even came in on a day off to show my friend and I the rules and help us through our first game. Proof that those who own your flgs are the true heroes of the game.

My shout out goes to my cousin Ross, who let me play games with him when I was about 14. We used both of his armies (tyranid and black templars).

He swarmed his tyranid army across the battlefield and completely smoked me, but i was hooked after that!

Shout Outs to...

jy2, who writes awesome battle reports for the competitively minded and has been a consistent presence online for years...

MVBrandt and Reecius, who work to give us NOVA and BAO/LVO. These guys work tirelessly to make Competitive 40k happen and are a great stabilizing force for competitive play and 40k in general...

Mortetvie, for good in depth analysis and discussion of lists and tactics...

HulkSmash, for being hilarious and reminding me that you can have an absolute blast while trying your hardest to beat the snot out of your opponent...

HomeSkillet, for being local and willing to play competitive games...

TOs, for all the thankless work that goes into making Competitive 40k something that still exists...

GW, for bringing us 40k. Yeah we may not always see eye to eye, and some days I want to strangle you for being a moron, but you are the only Wargame that has kept me coming back for more...

Heh, I’ve been slacking on my own blog. Just updated it now, thanks to you!

It’s hard to single out individuals, as the community as a whole is a bunch of great people. I feel that if I start a list, I’ll be here all night typing, and still leave people out. So I’ll just list some of them, in no particular order. (and with some overlap)

Sir Samuel Buca, for making me need to pick up a venerable dreadnought after seeing him build his.
My brothers from another primarch, Zambro and McManiak, for helping me get through building and painting bikes. I don’t know how White Scars keep sane.
My fellow Ultramarine players. Randy McStab, Tigurius, Brother SRM, and all the rest. I always enjoy watching my battle-brothers work on their armies, keeps me inspired to work on my own.
Everyone who posts on my blog. Motivation is a fickle, fleeting thing. A solid bunch of guys helps keep me on track, and push what I think I’m capable of. I’ve improved my painting more over the last year then I had in the last decade, thanks to the support of the people subscribed to listen to me ramble on about my workbench.

On the non-Dakka front, The Wife, obviously, for putting up with the time I spend puttering in the basement and at the FLGS. And Mark, the owner of my current FLGS, Dirty Goblin Games, for providing a place for me to wage battle in the Emperor’s name.

My history teacher at Kapiti College (which is like Americas high school I think, ages 13-18 for most people).

He made and kept a Wargames Club going (and still does) which is the very reason me and many others got into gaming in the first place. Pushed us to try non GW things (which didnt work until many years after we left haha) and taught us painting, terrain making and helped manage the funds and the list goes on.

While there have been many who helped I guess being the root of wargaming for me and many others he deserves my shout out.

The three people who got me into gaming are dead now.
One by his own hand, the others to natural causes.

I've got no-one to shout-out to.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

Shoutout to SgtDurst on WargamerAU for hooking me up with Discount Games Store in the US to import GW models to get around regional pricing in Australia. The WAU forum policy is that you're not allowed to mention non-sponsors on the site (fething ridiculous) so without that knowledge I probably wouldn't have gotten into 40k as there's no way I would have paid Aussie prices.
