Honestly, what's stopping anyone from playing an unbound list with a Primarch in the LoW slot now?
Would you play someone who pulls out Fulgrim along with his 1200 points of emperor's children 40k chaos army?

Because Primarchs are a part of the 30k crusade army list, not the 40k codices.
I'm not sure, but don't you need to stick to the LoW outlined for your faction in the Escalation book (or in the case of Orks, the codex)?
Edit: Personally, I think a lot of the Primarchs are tamer than a lot of the 40k legal LoW. I'd rather take on Fulgrim than a Transcendent C'tan.
Plus, the primarch's buffs only affect units from the Crusade army list, your Space Marines with Imperial Fists chapter tactics are not "Legiones Astartes (Imperial Fists)", knocks a lot of their utility off.

Because the primarchs don't really exist anymore in the world of 40k. They're no longer uber space marine captains boldly cutting a swatch across the battlefield, they're all either shrouded in mystery, going off on side quests or are dead.
The reason people don't use 30k units in 40k is because they have at least a shred of integrity with the background of the game.

I have brought mine (Curze) in my 30k list vs a 40k list. He was nasty.... to the one Dark Angels command unit that tied him up the entire game. Sure, he killed Ezekial, a random librarian, and Azrael in challenges but that's all he did all game, and his command squad and captain level apothecary died in the process. I ended up winning but that was totally due to air superiority and playing the actual mission. Its just one guy. They only thing most of the primarchs really can do is fight close combat. Tie them up and there goes 400+ points.

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM! |

Though 2 different games Id play it once just to see how it is
IIRC 30k armies dont quite stack up to 40k armies for some reason.
and im sure enough wave serpent hits would take one out eventually
Also i wouldn't put it behind russ to pop out of no where for a beer run.

I'd be fine with it, because that means they're ok with taking a Lord of War, and they aren't using it on a Titan. That means I get to field a Tigershark AX-1-0. I don't know the rules for Primarchs, but I imagine a Destroyer weapon hit makes them a sad panda.

No, it would inflict a wound, which he might save with his invul, if you didn't roll a 6 and then IWND it. When I fielded Curze, he literally threw everything he had available at him, aircraft, 3 shooty termy squads, speeders, etc. I mean one of the aircraft he brought even crash landed on top of Curze thanks to the new crashing rules(funny as hell) and in two rounds of shooting, only a single wound and I think it was IWND'd. Then he leap frogged over a screening squad and assaulted Azrael, and even then on the first round he scored a single wound while the rest of the squad slowly got ganked.
They really are worth the points just as bullet sponges. If it wasn't such a big game I think that would have made a difference but it was a 12' board so the Primarch was only a small part of it.
