We started our Bolt Action League last night at Geek's Game Galaxy. We played scenario one at 1939. After a random roll my opponent was Germany. My Russians, well, preformed historically. I had a captain with attache, a commissar with bullet catcher. four ten man squads with 1 LMG a 10 man smg squad, an anti-tank rifle team and a KV-1. My preliminary bombardment laid out a total of 6 pin markers. I put my tank in the middle of the board and ran my infantry all along one side of the board in an effort to punch through. His FOO pinned down my tank, the reinforcements all came in to bolster the side I made my run on. As I chewed up a squad he'd pull them back so I couldn't wipe them out. My entire army was inexperienced (it was 1939) so I was needing 5's on my best rounds so I couldn't go after his small squads with any statistical chance of hitting. In the end I scored 3 VP to his 16. I knew it was going to be rough going into this one and there were some really amazing moments in the game like me rallying with four pin markers and lots of uses for the commissar to the point that the German player nominated him his MVP that kept the game fun. It's okay. 1942 is coming. There will be a reckoning.

We could still use some more Axis players so if you're in South East Missouri come on down on Tuesday nights and get in on the fun.
