So with the arrival of the new ork codex i finally had an excuse to start orks. I'm planning on picking up the Ork Warband kit when it becomes available again. But i was wondering where I should go after that. Looking to run a foot horde list if that helps at all.

Fist thing first a bit more of the same things. I would say about two extra box of gretchin for somes screening and probably one extra box of nobz for extra punch. The points reduction on them made them much better and this kit is pure joy to assemble (plus at 30$ its prety cheap for what it is). Then, I would consider two of those new mek gunz for some convering fire. Finally, you could consider some deff dreads. They can make good shields for your boys, are not that pricy and are very nice to assemble and easy to paint. If you want to go infantry heavy, some flash gitz or lootas are not a bad idea. After that, a few extra meks and you are good to go. I would consider one of those new giant walker (don't know ho to spell them correctly) for hiding a trio of mega nobz for a nasty surprise. Well these are my two cents...

Depends on what you really want to get. If you're playing entirely for fun vs other guyz that just love the hobby and won't min-max their lists for competitive game...pick anything you want. Really. The inner ballance has really improved. There are probably just a couple of worthless units left. Something like kanz, bubblechukkas...i'd say that grots are still overpriced for what they do - they should cost 2 pts per one - not 3 and regular nobz still have no real use other than sitting on bikes but without old cyborks they're way more vulnerable. Grot kits are still important as a crew for mek gunz (which i strongly recommend to scratch-build).

If you're gona be hghly-competitive than just don't pick orks. We've got no cheeze. You won't have any real chance vs most highly competitive builds out there.

Note that greentide is a weak standalone army. 120+ boyz are not scary now. It's quite possible they won't even kill a single enemy if you're facing something like tau or eldar. To make them work, you need to use support - bikers, a coupel of trukks with meganobz, buggies, battlewagon with something inside - all those stuff will fit. And don't forget about long-ranged support in face of big gunz or lootas (though, they're not as good in current codex cause we've got lots of s8 stuff everywhere).
