I know, shoot me...
Does anyone know any good and cheaper alternatives to warlord games tanks and aircraft? Or even just one definitive answer to what scale they should be.
I'm not a fan of resin and metal, and I also want to use some as terrain pieces.
thanks.

I can't give any advice on cheaper alternatives other than looking through all the plastic model manufacturers at 1:48 scale.
But your not going to get a definitive answer on what scale to use. The game is marketed at 1:56 by Warlord but some prefer 1:48 and some prefer 1:56. Many will say just pick one and dont mix the two and you will be fine. I personally like the 1:56 because I feel like after looking at some of the vehicles in real life it looks more realistic to me. But I think some like bigger vehicles for the same reason's heroic scale is more popular. In the end it's personal preference. If you end up prefering 1:56 just know Warlord and Italeri are in a partnership now to produce plastic tanks they already have the Sherman out and it is cheaper than the resin.

Thanks for the advice.
If you've seen some in real life and prefer 1:56, that's good enough for me

No problem, I am not sure I am the majority view so by all means check out other peoples responses that's just my personal opinion. On a secondary point I like the bolt action game and like to support Warlord in buying their miniatures. But that isnt the primary reason for my choosing 1:56 my other points are.

1:48 Italeri seems a popular alternative for vehicles, but is a personal preference. As stated warlord games are bringing out more plastic kits which are cheaper; or it possible to get warlord games for cheaper online, for example: http://www.shrewsburywargaming.co.uk/ourshop/cat_752051-Bolt-Action.html

Matchbox MBX Jeeps which were out a few years ago actually work very well and are quite cheap. I've built two with some crew from Warlord. I had to chop the feet off of the driver, but you don't notice it once mounted.

I used an Academy 1/72 Thunderbolt for my aircraft. Scale is less important here, and this enabled me to transport it easier.
Model kits will often be your cheapest source of vehicles, although you may need to watch ebay or sales to get them cheaper than you can find Warlord kits (which I would avoid, they are not very good kits). Also look for various diecast vehicles, Corgi made a line of 1:50 scale vehicles a few years back. You can occasionally see them come up on Ebay.

The newer Airfix 1:48 scale planes look great for BA aircraft.

I prefer to use 1:48 scale when i can. It feels like some of warlords tanks are not only out of scale with the infantry but are sometimes out of scale with each other. The only warlord tank that I've been super impressed with so far is the M24, for everything else i just go tamiya. If im not mistaken you can find most tamiya kits for about 10$ cheaper than their warlord counterparts. Here are some of my French paras next to a 1:48 tamiya greyhound for a scale reference
