The local gaming store has a slowly growing 40k community and it looks like we might start running some tournaments. Since the store's community is relatively new we will be playing around the 1500 point level. Here is what I think is a competitive ork list at 1500 (Lacks Anti Air). If I get first turn, like most ork armies, I think this is a pretty tuff list.

Mega Warboss, luckky stikks
Warboss Bike, PK (Rides behing BW or flanks with bikers, jink first turn and set up shoot and assault turn 2)

Troops:
20x shoota boyz, Nob Pk Bp
10 slugga boyz, Nob PK Bp, trukk
10x Grotz, Runtherd

Elites:
5x Tankbustas, trukk (either kill this or 5 rokkits and 5 melta bombs will blow something up. 100 points of cheap anti tank and pressure)
5x Tankbustas trukk
3x Meganobz, BW, BS, RR

FA:
5x Rokkit buggies (screen for BWs and trukks, super cheap and awesome unit)
5x Bikers, Nob PK

HS:
5x Lobbas, 5x ammo runts ( super cheap and if you twinlink the first shot these are deadly)
BW, BS, RR

I would take a look at Frontline Gaming. Reecius has some great lists.

I have and his arr good but I also believe this is a great TAC list. If i went up to 1850 like his lists I would add some lootas, maybe more buggies or a dakkajet or add some beef to troops.

I would swap the warboss on bike with a big mek and KFF on a bike and give him Da Big Bosspole.

Drop the nob in the shoota boys, replace with a mek and give one boy a big shoota. Also leaves enough points to bump both the slugga boyz and grots to a unit of 12 each with 1500 exactly.

Mek character has way more synergy with shootas than nob (I assume they are in BW) and big mek gives more options than warboss with the KFF and can bolster any unit with fearless with the pole as needed as well.

Never ever ever drop a Nob. What were you thinking. Keep the Nob in place and make sure he has a Power Klaw and Boss pole. If you want to put any other other characters in the unit do it but never give up a Nob space if you have one. The only exception is on a suicide tankbusta squad. They are meant to be cheap and expendable.

I dont see how a big mekk with kff is better than the warboss. The warboss is leadership 9 and is great t hunting vehicles and MCs. He is still a big threat and with the cover from the buggies I think im okay with not taking a kkf, but the big.bosspole is a good idea!

A truck for you tank bustas is a death trap. If you are going to run 5 of them, why not try an imperial bunker or aegis with the quad gun? Tank hunter on twin linked assault 4 str7 is pretty good.

Im not trying to shoot im trying to assualt. They are 100 points and are suicide units. 5 melta bombs in a super fsst vehicle. Its either kill them or turn two they are assualting, so for a 100 points it works.
