I've been playing a lot of games with my room mate and so far, any game that I have won against him has been due to poor dice rolls more than a tactical advantage and I was wondering how the rest of the world deals with the Bounty Hunter list (Bounty Hunter x3). I introduced him to the list because it looked like a pretty forgiving list to run. 30 damage to take it out, 2 defense dice, 3 attack with a rear firing primary weapon and a pretty solid maneuver dial makes it pretty easy to get your first games down and without any upgrades or pilot abilities there isn't anything to remember other than what action to perform after each move. After so many games though he's gotten really good at flying those Firespray (Firesprays?) and really nothing I have been able to throw at him, or any trick I can pull off seems to work out. I know that I will be runninig into listls like this at tournaments, even if only with him running it, so how does one deal with 3 Bounty Hunters?

Iv not come up against it yet, but I'd try for these basics

- focus fire on one ship at a time
- use ships with increased mobility to stay out of arcs where possible
- ion cannons are your friend
- special characters rules can help

This probably isn't particularly helpful, but it's worth bearing in mind

out of curiosity what have you been flying against it? Multiple things I'm sure but any specific examples?

Okay, those seem reasonable. When you fly against the Bounty Posse, where do you tend to put yourself on the board? Toward the center, an edge, or a corner? Maybe in the asteroid pile? Speaking of how do you deploy asteroids?

I place asteroids in a loose cluster I can maneuver through. Since I can easily dart through, I have a hiding place to go to reposition that he cannot follow easily without getting a little hurt. My positioning is based on lots of factors such as list, enemy placement, obstructions, battleplans...ect. I can get into various battleplans later if it would help.

Well lets start by getting all the asteroids as tight as possible in a single quadrant of the board or if your lucky the center. This will have to depend on how your roommate tries to place them and you luring him into helping you make the asteroid cluster since you each place three. Loose asteroids don't really hurt him while they help you, tight will cause that base of his some more problems and still not as easily hurt you. This is a strategy I often use to give headaches to Falcons.

The other part to this is you want to put the asteroids such that they make triangles. It's easy to see how a player must move when they enter between two asteroids and there's a third in front of them because you know they must turn. Not as reassuring against that rear arc but every bit helps.

What actions do you tend to use over the course of the game?

The only other thing I would ask is how good are you at getting into his side and staying there with Bank+Barrel roll? If you can get it started you can actually hound them down fairly easily. Also it sucks that to do this you generally have to break your formation to do this.

Ion weaponry of any kind would be very fun against a list with just three potential targets.

Not a fan of trying to ion control large ships, it takes to much ion to work.

The list that's been working out the best has been the BXXZZ list. The assault missiles get him to spread out,and I can usually keep one out of the first volley.

Bank+Barrel Roll isn't easy to pull off with a wide based ship. I get clear maybe 1/3 of the time. The rest leaves me at range 1, where frankly I'd rather not be unless I'm finishing him off before he shoots.

Yeah you definitely don't want to close too tight till it's killing time. The other problem is that only works best if you'r facing one. If you can stay out of their arcs that's one thing, staying out of the forward and rear arc of two firesprays at the same time could be rough. Post a battle report of one of your games, maybe some guys here can critique it.

Not a full battle report, but I finally beat the Bounty hunters last night at a friendly tournament. I've been putting a lot of time in with the BXXZZ list and I guess the practice paid off. I managed to hit the center Hunter with both Assault missiles, stripping 2 shields from the other 2 and leaving the center shieldless. Finished him off at range 1 next turn. By that time the B wing was pretty beat down, along with one of the Z95s (he focused on trying to KO him before his missile went off), but the other Z95 and the Xs were untouched. Turn 3 he finished of the 2 Wounded ships and I focused fire on a second Hunter, finishing it off. At that point it was 2 X wings and a Z95 vs 1 Hunter with 2 shields gone. I just kept the pressure on and was able to pull a lucky set of Crits (Double Direct Hit! for the win).

After the practice with the Bounty Hunters, a lot of the rest of the lists just didn't seem to feel as tough. Han/Chewie Bromance (though Chewie with the Title and C3PO is a TANK!!!), 7 Tie Swarm, 3 B & Biggs, 3 Xwing aces (Hobbie, Wedge, Luke). It was a lot of fun.

Congrats!
Would you mind posting the bxxzz list?

My guess would be something like this:
(Failsafes on the Zs may be something else)

Blue Squadron Pilot (22)

Rookie Pilot (21)

Rookie Pilot (21)

Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)
Assault Missiles (5)
Munitions Failsafe (1)

Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)
Assault Missiles (5)
Munitions Failsafe (1)

Total: 100

The validate is a good idea, but I've been running at 98 points ( the rest is spot on) so I can get initiative. Placing the big asteroid can be a game changer sometimes. I'd also thought about Fire Control System for the Blue Squadron Pilot.

It was a list I've been toying with too. I have thoughts on running Chardaan'd Prototype/Green Squadron Pilots after Rebel Aces in place of Rookies to give me some points to kit the B out, maybe make it a Dagger with FCS or Adv. Sensors, and an Ion Cannon, or even running a few named A-Wing Pilots instead (Personal favorite ship going way back to my first viewing of Jedi, and I do like it's dial too).
