WAR REPORT
War analysts on Coruscant are optimistic about an Imperial victory, expressing encouragement over the performance of the new Phantom and Defender TIE fighters. The Empire's dominance of the core systems is only expanding, and although the Rebellion has spread to a number of outer systems, Emperor Palpatine has reassured his subjects that they need not worry about the insurgents gaining ground. The rebels' hidden base has been discovered and successfully attacked, while reports that the Death Star has repelled a massive assault by Black Sun pirates have been suppressed as treasonous hearsay. Even now, delegates from Black Sun are said to be offering Imperial procurators a cease-fire agreement, though this would ultimately result in a dismantling of that criminal organization entirely on the Empire's terms. Bothan Space is no longer under the protection of the Alliance, and many Bothan spies have been captured and interrogated. It seems only a matter of time before the futile rebellion is quelled and peace is restored to the galaxy.
RULES CHANGES
Some important rules changes have been implemented this phase, effective immediately. All of these changes are intended to make victories more significant.
1. The Black Sun faction now has a Pirate Fleet sector, the equivalent of the Imperials' Death Star and the Rebels' Hidden Base.
2. Every sector controlled by a faction now adds its value to that faction's score. Every sector counts! (Previously, the only sector values that were counted were those that were connected to other sectors controlled by the same faction.)
3. Once a sector contains a fleet marker, it is conquered and cannot be recaptured by another faction. This means that you should only choose to battle over sectors that do not yet contain a fleet marker. If you submit a battle report for a sector that has already been conquered, the outcome will be applied to a random sector instead.
4. If a faction controls a string of 3 or more sectors at the end of a phase, all of the sectors in that string receive a fleet marker and become conquered. (Previously, a faction had to control a string of 6 or more sectors in order to gain this benefit).
5. Finally, the Economic Superiority achievement is now easier to achieve. If a faction's score is 50 or higher at the end of a phase, that faction wins the campaign and a new season will begin. (Previously, a faction score of 65+ was needed to win this achievement.)
