Subject: New Necron player, need help with first list

I have been out of 40k since 5th. Just getting back in and picked up a decent amount of necrons. I will mainly be playing against a friend who field blood angels and Tyranids. I don't want to gameplan my army list just to beat him as thats no fun. But I don't want to lose to him either. Perhaps a mistep on my part but I am less worried about the blood angels than I am about the nids. Seems like necrons don't have a lot of options for killing the big nasties if a lot are fielded. I've watched a few 6th and 7th edition bat reps between necrons and nids and nids won most with the necrons getting 1 points win.
Heres what I have, not all, heck not most of it is assembled yet. Casual game with this guy, so counts as or whatever is all fine for now.
I got 1 battleforce(20 warriors, 5 deathmakr/immortals, 5 scarabs and a ghost ark)
I have 2 annihilation/CCB. Will most likely field these as annihilation to use the lords to join troops, but I am open to suggestions
1 additional set of 5 immortal/deathmarks
1 set of 3 wraiths
2 Night/Doomscythes
1 Triarch Stalker
I can easily go pick up 1 or 2 additional things if needed to make a nice list. I figure since we are new to 6th/7th edition that we should star with a small game first. But when I looked at 500-750 point lists, I don't feel like I get much, so I am leaning towards 1000 points unless lots of people agree a small list would be way better for first game, but we know 5th edition so we only need to adjust to whats new in 6th/7th which I am sure is still plenty
Start of a list I was working on
HQ-Overlord w/ Warscythe, MSS, sempiternal Weave
HQ-Possibly another same as above unless doing some counts as crytek for the royal court. I hear the crypteks are fun, but I didn't have the models so didn't include them. But to field more than 1 I think I would need another overlord/lord anyway
Troop 1-9 Warriors with an overlord in the ghost ark
Troop 2-10 immortals
Heavy Support-Annihilation Barge
Heavy Support-Annihilation Barge(I lied I only have the one barge, thought I had bought another)
I believe without that second HQ or royal court that puts me a bit over 700. I still have the scythe fliers, stalker, and wraiths to use. Again I don't want to gameplan against him. But what should I be taking to handle those monstrous creatures, as I assume I would have to plan for them anyway in an all comers list??

Well, I'd go for
DLord w/ warscyte, mss, weave
6 Wraiths
2x 10 Immortals w/ Night Scythes
10 Warriors w/ Ghostark
2x Annihilation Barge
An Overlord on foot is rather pointless. Night Scythes have a decent damage output and the best delivery mechanism in the game, and the fast DLord is almost a must-have in a Necron army.

That's a pretty solid list, although I disagree that an OLord on foot, particularly couple with, as you mentioned, one of the best delivery mechanisms in the game. I could see a Phaeron OLord thrown in with a group of 10 Gauss Immortals in a NS. Throw in a Res Orb, a Haywiretek (maybe think of grabbing his anti assault with any spare points, as you will be aggressive with this unit). WS/ MSS/and what other asundry tools on the Olord. That's a pretty solid OS unit to throw at just about anything, barring something really nasty in CC. Plus with all that rapid fire gauss and the haywiretek vehicles will be going down like butter.
Other then that, though, Wuestenfux is putting you on the right track. I would also make room in those GAs for some RCs, maybe drop the Warriors to 5 each and that gives you 130 to play with. A Pulsetek would also be a solid investment with 4 AV 13 hulls on the field that will likely take advantage of Jink.

Thanks. I tried running the Dlord with wraiths in a 1500 point game, we ran out of time on the game which was pretty even. But he had 2 flyers and I had taken none since my NS/DS weren't built yet, so that hurt a bit. But that leads me to a question(side tracking my own thread lol). With the ghost arks, they fire broadside right, so they are one of few units that can fire at 2 targets, one on each side of it. With 10 warriors inside the ghost ark, its opened topped so they can all fire right? Are they all able to fire in the same direction as one of the banks of guys on the ark itself? I was forgetting to fire with them, had I I probably would have gotten more wounds on those flyers he had. So can they all fire in on direction, and/or can they split fire like the ark itself. My guess is they can't split their fire since they are one unit. I feel like I've read people say 30 shots from a ghost ark, so I'm assuming 1 set of onboard guns and 10 warriors all rapid firing equals 15x2 or 30 shots. But I want to be clear.

They might have meant firing both sides and occupants in rapid fire range? (5x3x2)
But being able to get an angle on a target where both sides can fire at it is extremely difficult.
So yeah, probably 10 Warriors inside+5 shots from one side (in reapid fire range).
But yes, you can fire at three separate targets with a Ghost Ark if it's carrying occupants.
