It'd be fun to play against and a welcome change from the usual All suit or Riptide spam I see.

The Riptide can't be a giant death robot, its completely lacking a sword or massive chainsaw. All giant death robots have swords or massive chainsaws.

The player this is for specifically wants to avoid the crisis/riptide spam most Tau players go for, his regular games are against me with a bolter heavy IF army and a ork player who uses mobs and mobs of boys!

For friendly competition; it's adequate.

The Twilight Zone

I like the idea of a firestorm loadout on a commander. I would probably swap the shield gen for stims though. A 2+ with a 5++ backup against anything short of S10 is solid, and you get both, or at least one save most of the time, so you are still pretty well off. Just Look out sir! any S10 wounds to scrubs, or deploy to hide the commander from such. If your commander is joining the crisis team, move the drone controller to em so your gun drones are BS5.

I would probably take a gun drone with the fireblade over a shield drone. If your in cover, you should have some kind of save against fire. If your opponent is shooting anything nasty enough to punch 4+ armor and cover, the lone shield drone won't save you. Gun drones can die to dakka all the same, but shoot back if something gets close enough.

Not sure if you need target locks on every single member of the stealth team, maybe saving enough to get a neurochip on the commander(combined with dropping shield gen to stims).

It is hard for me to imagine a hammerhead without a dpod, even with the new jink rules. Combined with sensor spines you can still do well in cover.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.
