Hi guys, I'm planning to start a Necron BFG fleet as I have quite a few friends who already have their fleet from years ago. Buying from eBay is sporadic and pretty expensive so I have been looking around.

After reading through quite a few threads and checking out the Spartan Games site, I thought of buying the following ships.

Theridian class Carrier as the Necron Tombship
Raptor class battlecruiser/ Scarab class cruiser as the Shroud Class Light Cruiser
Gila class cruiser/Shunt R&D cruiser as the Scythe Class Harvest Ship
Nidus class frigate as the Jackal Class Raider
Stinger class escorts as the Dirge Class Raider

The only thing I'm not sure of would be the relative sizes and if these are approximately the same size as what my friends can recognise easily for the various classes in BFG. Could anybody advise me on this?

They should be ok, when I used to get Spaceship games in I used to use BFG, Firestorm and ACTA ships all mixed up

If anything FA battleships and so on are a little bigger IIRC

The biggest of the FA ships will be significantly larger than the largest BFG ships. I'd still to cruisers and such, the battleships will just be hilariously enormous.

Now, when I played BFG many many years ago I only really had Tyranid ships, and only played against Imperial and Chaos. I currently have some Dark Eldar cruisers and frigates but I have no clue how big the Necron ships are because I've never actually seen them.

I have recently bought a small FSA Relthoza fleet though. While the battleship is very large the Theridon carrier is substantially smaller. It would probably fit better as a BFG battleship/tombship.

I can measure it, the new cruiser/hvy cruisers, and the current escorts when I get home and somebody else may be able to say how the Necron ships compare.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The newest Relthoza carrier, I'm not sure if it's the Theridon or the Hive is 3" wide and 3" long. It has side wings which are 2.5" tall but the body is about .5" thick.

The battleship is 2.5" wide and 5" long, and just over 4" tall. Although you could mount it on its side so that it would be 4" wide and 5" long.

The new Relthoza cruisers are 1.5" wide, and 1.75" from front to back and about 3" tall, although again it would look good on its side if you want a really wide ship.

Those are the ships found in these two boxes, because those are the only ones I have.

Thanks guys, especially roadkizzle, for making the effort to measure. I've also mailed Spartan Games and I hope they would be able to help.

It should be fun to be doing ship painting as a break from 40k painting. If I get them up and running, I'll post up the Picts.

I've also read the rules for Firestorm Armada. It sounds a bit more complicated than BFG but interesting all the same. But it's something to try in the future.
