Hey dudes and dudets.

With the new morkanaughts and their damn transport capacity... (half way through a mega-dread conversion, which will now be my morka, but it most definitely does not look like it could even hold 6 models atm!)
I was thinking up alternate ways to model its 6 model capacity and this is what I came up with
I will be testing this later tonight, but any pre-thoughts welcome:

The 6 orks will be positioned onto the shoulder pads/ another suitable area of the morkanaught. They will be stood on what would appear to look like a mini-forcefield generator or a personal cryo pod etc...
I would then completely paint up the models and morkanaught.
Using UHU glue mixed with a tiny bit of an ink (thinking a icy blue), I would then pour the glue over the model

I couldn't find any images to help relate my idea, but this is the UHU effect done with a poison, I would simply be doing the same but with much less colour in order to maintain the transparancy and would be going for a coat look; rather than a dripping.

This should (I hope) create an effect where the base model is visible due to the transparancy, but most definitely appears as if it is being contained within a containment field. The back drop being that da' big mek employs highly powered force fields to ensure the boyz make it to the fight unscathed. However the fields are so strong that once turned on the orks are locked in pose. This as a result has led to the ritual of the orks adopting 'epic ork krumpin' poses just before the mek turns the fields on

Gah, I hope that makes some sort of sense, was much harder to explain than i thought

Pouring UHU glue over your model? You're very brave...

Fluff-wise, I have no problem with a morkanaut using a forcefield instead of steel as armour (so long as it doesn't get confusing with the KFF as well).

Model-wise, definitely do a test model first. I'm worried that instead of looking like orks standing in force fields, they'll look like orks standing in mysterious slime circles

'epic ork krumpin' poses FTW
Would love to see this. Not sure if you want to have 6 models with the 'effect on' though.
I'm guessing you will have the 6 with effect to go on the Naut and then 6 of the same mini for running round the table, then you have the issue that should you decide to load up with a different unit? considering that you might even do this mid game to save giving away a kill point. Are you going to have 6 of every unit in your army? or hope that the epic pose boyz won't confuse your opponent when you decide to hide a battered unit of grotz just to save a kill point?

I reckon you should be able to make a forcefield effect you can place models in, maybe clear plastic spheres with a lightning effect on the outside and then glaze with that effect to tint the plastic/ varnish the paintwork.
Another option is to have a part sphere above and below each model, or to the sides.

testing on an old marine ive got.

I did one layer without any tint, simply to see how it affectd the colours beneath. Was reasonable, but in some areas it didn't look thick enough and had pooled some. Added an extra layer to see how it mixes with the layer beneath. As if I can layer it effectively then I can prevent it pooling.

And yeh, il have to use static models. But tbh I can just make them look funky and just state that they simply represent transport capacity and have nothing to do with the unit inside.

I'm interested to see this, when you've got it all sorted out.
