Looking at buying a super heavy tank, but have no idea which one. I thought maybe just a standard baneblade?

Which one would you use and why?

Take a Stormlord. Fill it with 5 Heavy Weapon Squads of heavy bolters and obliterate infantry by the handful.

Doomhammer

1. One of the rarest of the variants on the battlefield.
2. Still has 25 man transport capacity, 10 can shoot out the top.
3. Still has a strong gun, the Magma Cannon (kinda like a toned down Volcano Cannon)

It's a cross between a Stormlord and a Shadowsword and yet isn't bad at all. It's a good versatile platform imo.

Ya can't go wrong with the Baneblade; it's a solid choice. If you're up against super heavies a Shadowsword is a nice choice as well with the volcano cannon.

Baneblade, the conventional varirents a good all comer, powerful weapons, good range in armaments, thick armour and powerful weapon systems.

These days, I'd take a Stormsword or Hellhammer first. The Hellhammer only lacks in range compared to the Baneblade, but the primary weapon has another point of Strength and ignores cover. The Stormsword trades the demolisher to push the blast out to a hilarious 10" and costs less to run.

If you're looking to handle superheavies, MCs, or Gargantuans, then the Shadowsword is still the pick, but it's definitely much less of an overshadowing choice with 7e Destroyer rules.

Stormlord. Not only is it a moving fort, but it can kill Flyers.

The plastic Baneblade kit is a good buy, as you can do some magnet work to use it as several different variants.
Anyway, I'm a fan of the standard Baneblade among the plastic kits. Adding in Forgeworld, I really like the Stormblade, because the plasma blastgun is just awesome. Choose the one you think you will have the most fun with.

I would also take a Stormlord; just because I have this love for Assault Cannons and he has the biggest of them all
It would fit greatly with my Blood Angels!

Stormlord with twenty space marine devastators for fun and it looks amazing. But in reality I'd magnetize it.

I would go with the Baneblade as a standard general-purpose workhorse. The Shadowsword looks great too, and is really useful against other super-heavies.

Someone mentioned the Malcador Defender - that is perfect especially if your IG army is WW1-themed

Well there is definalty a favourate among the dakka peeps. Looks like I may need to buy two. One for a baneblade, and the other for magnet crazyness.

Cheers guys.
