I've never played them before, but was thinking about getting a handful of Cadians together for a game of kill team. I've played a lot of kill team, and if there's one thing I've learned it's that people get aggressive when it comes to rules for it. If you're not familiar with the game type, it's 200 points and each model counts as a unit (no coherency, etc.). When it comes to rules that apply to a unit, such as one marine from a unit being able to throw a grenade, each and every model (now a unit) can throw a grenade on the same turn. Yes, this quickly gets confusing.

Basically, does this mean that only a single model can receive an order from my command squad? And does a vox caster still work, considering it isn't in the same unit as the model issuing the order? I love kill team, but I have yet to find a more frustrating heap of rules debates.

Each model is its own unit, it those special rules only affects the model and nothing else

That way,then left

Well if every model is its own unit yes, it's a unit receiving the order, the other guys who used to be part of his unit are different units now.
No, the vox caster doesn't work, nobody's in anyone else's unit anymore

Or rather, it only works for the guy carrying it....

Everyone being separate models means vox broke and only the Platoon commander model can only issue 1 order to 1 model (probably best to use it on a special or hws )

Meh, looks like I'll just get two veteran squads then instead of having a useless command squad.

On a side note, there was also a lot of confusion on the rules for entering vehicles. Here's the scenario:
5 models start in a dedicated transport
all 5 get out for a turn
when the models exit, they're now 5 units instead of 5 models
does this mean only one "unit" is allowed back inside the transport, or all 5 models that paid to get that transport?

We just let them get back in because it's rather silly that the door would seal behind them and they'd be trapped outside, but if it's based purely on rules then only one model could get back in, correct?

10 man squad of ratling snipers and a squadron of two scout sentinels with lascannons. I think that's still 200 points...

Heralds of Ruin has improved Kill Team rules:

http://heralds-of-ruin.blogspot.com/p/kill-team-rules.html

In their system orders work on a target model and everyone within 3". It has lots of other more well thought out solutions to the GW Kill Team ruleset (supporting fire overwatch, targeting multiple clustered models, pick by model not by unit, etc.)

Page 21 of my PDF has a note on Transport Vehicles. "Transport vehicles can carry a number of models equal to their Transport Capacity (but following all of the normal restrictions), regardless of which unit they were selected from during Kill Team selection. However, only models that were selected as part of the same unit during Kill Team selection, and were assigned a Dedicated Transport, can begin the game embarked upon their Dedicated Transport."

To summerize, anyone can get in and out of the vehicle at will, mix and match to your heart's content, just remember that only the buying unit can start inside it.
