Straight grey for me - I really don't like the GW blue scheme.
It's also simpler as I have used car primer that also acts as the base colour.
You can see an example here
It's only base colours at the moment.

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

A few of the pieces on the model don't look like GW. Where are the shoulder pads from?

Dark grey for me, keeps them gritty and grimdark.

They're standard pads with the rim filed off. All my Blood Claws are done the same way - they get simple pads & then the Grey Hunters get more ornate ones.
The rest is just a mix of the standard SW box, the SW sprue & space marine bits.

GW blue-grey for me, although mine comes out a bit darker after washing. The Studio paint mix was a 50/50 of Space Wolves Grey and Shadow Grey, IIRC. Mine's a 50/50 of Fenrisian Grey and The Fang, with the dark blue wash to get into the crevasses. Highlights were Fenrisian Grey. I suppose I could base with the Fang, layer up with my 50/50, and then highlight with Fenrisian to get the same effect without a wash if I wanted.
Only real issue I have is that The Fang is a Base paint and Fenrisian Grey is a Layer (different pigment concentrations).

I noticed that the plastic glue label recommends wearing something akin to a hazmat suit when handling the glue. I have been using it for years and never used gloves or anything nor do I know anyone who does. ShouldI be worried for my health?

Well, there's a slight risk of gluing something together with it. Only slight, mind.
