Hi all, I'm looking for a spray can thats reasonably close to GW Warplock Bronze (or tinbitz for the oldies )
It doesnt have to be a 100% match, just close enough.

I'v been using a lot of warplockbronze to basecoat all the metals on my orks, with 5 trukks, a battle wagon, 3 deffkoptas to paint next plus whatever I buy next along with re-theming the bases to be orky metal plate work all over... Well I'm getting thru the lil pot. And gonna need loads of the stuff.

Best I've seen so far is Ford Roman Bronze;

google suggests that these wheels were done with it...

Any other suggestions would be really welcome (I dont think army painter do this colour do they?)

'Ain't nothing crazy about me but my brain. Right brain? Riight! No not you right brain! Right left brain? Right!... Okay then lets do this!!

GW paint names have always been so pointless...

What should we call a dark bronze color? Tin Bitz - makes perfect sense...

Anyway, that aside, metallic paints are pretty hard to say what is a good match for due to the way the underlying paint plays against them. Something like a light coat of Aged Copper from Rustoleum over a black primer coat creates a dark bronze look that was similar to Tin bitz (the bronze which is named for a silver white metal...). If you apply the copper fairly thick though - it becomes more red and copper like. An Oil Rubbed Bronze over white primer isn't too far removed either (depending on the specific ORB).

Design Master Bronze is OK too - again, base and thickness making a big difference in the final outcome.

If you want an exact match - get in touch with a custom matching service. Due to difficulties in transport - I won't bother with the companies that I use here in the US...but I have heard good things about Vinny Byrne (Ireland). Custom matches normally cost around $20 for the first can and than $15 for each additional can once they have the formula. They can do metallic and other specialty paints as well as regular colors.

Considering that a 350 ml can of Army Painter goes for $10...getting a 400 ml custom matched can for $15-20 isn't that bad of a deal. I am sure the prices won't be too far off over there either, in terms of their relative price points.
