Subject: 7th ed and chaos, chaos is fickle but has it left you in a pickle?

So 7th has been out for over a month now, and in my opinion the codex/codices that have been most affected are chaos. Obviously some good and bad things have came out of the new rulebook. But in general playing chaos in 7th edition is completely different than playing chaos in 6th edition. So what I was wondering was what lists people are using and how much successs they have had with them. Has summoning spam worked, or is it just appealing on paper? Is daemon flying circus well and truly dead? Screamercouncil gone and nerf to deathstars due to maelstrom missions, what will chaos players do? Do chaos rely on psychic powers to win, but they are unreliable to get off now?

The deal with psychic powers is witchfires are stronger through due to straight up upgrades to powers such as longer ranges, more power, etc
Blessings are weaker because lets say you really want to bless your deathstar with a game breaking 4++ save or something, your opponent can throw all his dice at that to stop it.
Ahriman is seeing some attention as a result.
I have heard little about actual play testing of summoning lists. Mixed results from the few batreps I have seen.
Armor is better so tanks and walkers are being taken a bit more seriously.

Yeah daemonic psychic blessings are gone, so I expect to see more loci used on heralds. I'm expecting a lot more triple soul grinder lists.

Did three games with demons in 7th so far.
- Summoning: Outside from list that have nothing but horrors and heralds, it's not as gamebreaking as it sounds. Exempting that one in a million game, where you roll possession with everything.
- Psychich Powers: BRB powers are nice, but overall Tzentch has taken a slight hit.
The blue scribes are suddenly very worthwhile, since when they roll on demonology, they have a good chance of casting 3-6 charges worth of powers.
- Flying Monstrous creatures: Bloodthirsters have been neutered, at least as flying creatures. They still kinda work as pseudo-jumptroops, but the loss of mobility hurts them quite badly.
Lords of change are still cool, but the decission between them and another two heralds is just that little bit harder, now that you need more ML's.
(Haven't got a GUO, but imagine the "nerf" to buffs has hurt him a bit.)
I'm still scrambling to find a good way to hijack some transports for my demons (Herald-star in landraider?).
The new force org is a massive bonus for demons, seeing how crowded the HS and HQ slot were.
In the next game I want to try out Nurglings, since infiltrating units could make for some nice first turn scoring with the new Mission style.

I've found that summoning is nowhere near as good as people thought it was going to be. ESPECIALLY in KP games, at that point you may as well just cast a power then hand your opponent extra dice or markers (or whatever you use to keep track of killpoints) for all the kill points you are about to give them.
My poor Khorne Daemons list got neutered hard by the change to flying monstrous creatures. Not that I don't think those nerfs needed to happen, its just that my list was more or less a Bloodthirster delivery service :(
The change to vehicles has brought new life to my Iron Warriors themed army though on the plus side!
I think Chaos Marines more or less came out ahead this edition, while daemons got a bit nerfed, but again, those nerfs were arguably deserved.

I might have to give nurglings a try, as well as the blue scribes. All FMC for chaos are pretty much needed to the point of don't take them, except for fatey and belakor. What lists are people of thinking of trying that might work?

Roll out the tanks and give them demon possession. Thanks to the new rules not only are your spike covered armored vehicles less likely to blow sky high from one hit, but also you can ignore half of the vehicle damage chart by taking demon possession.

I've been using be'lakor + bloodthirster, supported with grinders and a khorne prince, and large pack of khornedogs (i made some really cool models for the thirster and prince, I'm determined to use them) putting grimorie o be'lakor or the dogs,
using shrouding to get my fmcs a 2+ cover. its been amazing so far.

Truth be told that tzeetch, and flying circus got nerd with 7th. Being able to summon more daemons in theory is awesome. But the problem is you must decide do you want to actually do damage with witch fire or summon something and prey it does not get blasted off the board then survive long enough to be productive. Screaming Death ball is still decent to have something survive and annoy the enemy.
Yes soul grinders now will be making a come back, along with Chariots, or anything that actually has a shooting attack, where it can do some damage and not preying on a physic phase. On the bright side though playing heavy physics shuts down the enemy with blessings which comes in handy.
Chaos MC are still in play though, DS in close then assault next turn, of course if they have wings this does not work so Lord of Change and Bloodthirsters are out of the picture for this.
Ran an Apoc match against some Grey Knights, Won the game but not by much. Though I do have to say The Flaming of Tzeentch can be funny when everything rolls right, ended up getting Assualt X (X=64 .. Lots of Pink horrors in the formation you can still put them use) S10 AP1 against his unit with his Warlord in it.
