So I played a few test games and went with Necrons.
Went out and bought a Battleforce pack and a Annihilation Barge.
I have made all of the pieces and this is how my army stands.
1 Necron Lord
1 Annihilation Barge (magnetized)
1 Ghost Ark
20 Warriors

Now this is where I'm stumped. I have 5 Immortals and I can't figure out if I should build them with Gauss Blasters or Tesla Carbines. I am trying to go with a "shooty" army and trying to stay away from close range. Any help on how to build my first army would be awesome. Thanks for welcoming me into such a fun game.

That's a good start. Most of the Necron players I've spoken with suggest getting 2 Necron battle force box sets as a great core to your army.
on Immortals, could always use the one eye heads and make them death marks?

If you are undecided, you can try to magnetism them. It's a bit more work but leaves you the most flexibility and most bang for your buck.

Keep the deathmark heads and at some point pick up a lychguard kit ... they make great crypteks, heads + guards + praetorian staffs

I run a AV 13 wall necron build and I love it .... CBB with Lord, 3 GA with 5 warriors / haywire crypteks, 3 AB, and for higher point games add in another ark / veiltek with immortals for deep striking goodness / night scythes

I ended up just picking up 2 battle force boxes and a CCB kit when I started and kept adding in CCB kits / battle force boxes until I got enough, its great all around for whatever your going to run.

On the immortal issue ... I have 10 modeled up with gauss because I run up against tau / eldar alot (ap4) and the glance effect, if I could go back now I would model them tesla for the extra proc hits. Tesla > Gauss, even with the ap on gauss with most units your going to be using the ap4 against they will be in cover ... I highly suggest playing around with a veiltek if your running immortals, nothing like deep striking 10 models each turn around the board.

That's a good starting point. I'd give the Immortals telsa weapons for increased variety.

Looks like I'm gonna throw the Tesla weapons on my Immortals.
I'm also gonna save the death mark heads and bodys.
Thanks for the input.

Yeah, Tesla Immortals have more consistent range, and given that your Warriors will already have the mobility of the GA your Immortals will more then likely be stuck at home. Think about grabbing them a Lancetek. It makes them a pretty consistent threat to both light vehicles and infantry.
