So this is the new Knight Lancer from Forgeworld:

And while I think it looks... ehm... okay, I suppose, I'm not really a big fan. It's legs look way too long and wobbly and I much prefer the sturdier, cleaner looking design of the normal Knight Titan.

One looks like a kick-ass fighting machine, the other looks like it's going to trip over its own legs and fall over. So my idea is to convert an ordinary Imperial Knight into a Knight Lancer, because I like the idea of representing the various knights in my Knight Army, but I don't want them to look awkward next to eachother. (Which the current Knight Lancer defo does.)

Does anybody have an idea for good bits to use for the spear / shield? Has anybody attempted such a conversion before and got some pictures to show? I'm curious how other people would approach this.

The shield would be simple: just build and actual shield with some plasticard, spare bits and patience.

As for the lance, maybe add the tip of the old eldar fire prism to a skeletal version of the battle cannon?

1400 points of EW/MW Italians (FoW)
2200 points of SoB and Inquisition (40K)
1000 points of orks (40K)
Just starting out with Ultramarines (30K)
Four 1000-2500 point forces for WHFB (RIP)
One orc team (Blood Bowl)

The lancer is somewhat lighter built through, may need some conversation to shoulder.

Also height

Main issue is going to be the weapons though. There will probably be no good way to make the shield of lance with existing bits, so you will probably be stuck scratching em both.

Seems easy enough to reuse the battle cannon and add some kinda pointly power tip to it. the shield will probably have to be custom plastic card. and height can be added with some plasticard tube. but the shield hand is probaly going to be a tough one (though you could use a venerable dreadnought power fist (its a hand) to replace it.

Edit: NVM you might be stuck doing a major leg overhaul to get it to the right height.

The pole for the lance looks like a rod stuck to a length of a zip tie - they have that bumpy texture edged by straight runners either side too.

I am not worried in the slightest about getting it to the "right" height as I feel the lancer looks stupidly tall compared to the GW knight. I will most likely end up posing it midjump for some height/the idea that it is more agile.

I like the idea of reusing thecannon. I'll look into old fire prisms to see what that looks like ontop of the bare cannon.
