On Nimbosa, cramming as many guardsmen into troop carriers as possible.

I was skimming through the ork codex, when I noticed that "any model may take items from the ranged weapons and/or melee weapon lists." After looking through the ranged weapons list, I was shocked. Does this mean we can have Grotzooka or supa-gatler wielding Nobz? Or am I missing something obvious.

Ok, clearly I was wrong, but is there a specific reason? I can't find anything that says this isn't legal, the supa-gatler, Grotzooka, and many others are heavy weapons, meaning it technically could be carried by infantry.

They are not listed on the Ranged Weapons List. The Lists referred to are the ones right before the Warboss Army List Entry (the one that tells you what upgrades he can take).

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Without having the codex, I'm guessing you're looking at a list of all the weapons in the ork codex, or the reference list at the back, whereas what you need is the page at the start of the army list that lists weapon options and points values (I'm guessing where you are looking doesn't have point values). However, as it's a new format codex (I've had a glance), I can't direct you to the exact page.

The Nobz army list entry (the unit, not the character that's added to squads) states.

"Any model may take items from the ranged Weapons and/or Melee weapons list". This refers to the list on page53 of the codex since you have to PAY for upgrades - they don't just magically get any weapon for free.

Ranged weapons listed on page 53 are Shoota, twin-linked shoota, Kombi-rokkit, or Kombi-skorcha.

Melee weapons listed on page 53 are Big Choppa and Power Klaw.

Grotzooka and the likes are no where listed on this page. It IS listed in the rules section for all of the different weapons and special rules associated with the weapons; however, that is not the section of the rules that is referenced on page 52 which describes the Option section of each datasheet entry.

I would not fear those Nobz...I'd fear the player that would grab the guns off of the Gorka/Morkanaut or Stompa since those weapons are also in the weapon special rules section.

Yeah... I had a plan for an anti infantry nobz squad carrying nothing but supa gatlers, that would be terrifying.

Oh well.

The Kill-Dakka from the Supplement has a one in six chance of becomming a Grotzooka for a game, you can give it to warbosses.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

If we're talking Nobs from Nob Squads, yeah. No problem at all.
Boyz Nobz I wouldn't be able to tell you off the top of my head. If it has access to the same weapons as Nobz for a Nob squad, then I imagine you can.
