Subject: Wound Allocation in Close Combat

I'm not sure if some wording changed from 6th to 7th on the way wounds are allocated when you are in close combat. After reading the wound allocation section of the BRB it is pretty clear that the wounds are allocated to the closest model which is inflicting the would at each initiative step. However after that it says that once a model has a wound allocated to it during an initiative step you must continue to allocate the wounds to it until it is removed. Does this mean once the initiative step is over you pick a new one or does the wounded model persist as the target of the CC?
What happened on my game yesterday was that my unit of nobz with warboss and painboy were hit by the death company, which had a lone powerfist and that said powerfist was b2b with my painboy. So from the hits/wounds on the I4 and I3 steps I remove my nobz until a single wound passes to my warboss. So then comes I1 and the powerfist scores a wound on the orks, where should I allocate the wound? Does the painboy gets pulverized due to S8? or do I have to allocate it to the warboss who is already wounded from a previous step granting him FnP due to T5?
Now that I come to think about it I could have just LOS with the painboy and let the warboss take another wound/FnP, however this made me curious.

or the Wound pool is empty That part of the Rule is also as important as the part which comes before it, removed as a Casualty, as the Wound pool is emptied before moving onto the next Initiative Step.

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures. |

As the powerfist is at a different initiative then yes you could only allocate powerfist wounds to models in B2B with the powerfist model (in this case, the painboy).
You also could then LOS to the next closest model.

True, I forgot about the wound pool at initiative step. So I can allocate to a new model every step.
A closeup question, if I happen to be fighting 2 I1 weapons which are on opposite sides of the battle I assume the models should be removed on 1 from each side of the battle until the wound pool is emptied right?

Correct, It is all dependant on how close the Enemy Models are to the attackers at the time the Wound is allocated, so in situations with multiple attacking Models you measure from all of them to find out whom the closest enemy is regardless of how close the attackers are to each other.
