Hello everyone,

Normally we are painting miniatures used in games - however this time we had a great opportunity to make an inspiring project - Tau XV8 Commander Diorama painted in High Quality.
You may also see converted fusion blades on him . Notice the fact that it can be both used for gaming and for display for it has got the changeable base. It is pretty cool idea to highlight your best / favorite units ; )

The idea was to capture the moment when Tyranid Haruspex is attacking from the ground using surprise, but the Commander was fast enough to jump and save himself. Now the drones are marking him, and the battle is about to start.

What do you think about it? Do you want us to post more dioramas like that? Would you like to feature your favorite units in dioramas like this? Let us know ; )

Anyway, if you would like to see some more information about Diormas commission, check out our website.

The painting is stunning. My only gripe though is the posing of the Commander, for what should be such a dynamic scene he looks too static and almost disinterested for want of a better word. Even posed on his separate base there is no sense of sudden movement or urgency

This. Perhaps having the arms flung up would have inferred surprise?

Not loving the diorama but the painting is phenomenal, he's a bit too clean to have just been involved in killing the tyranid beastie

Well, that's pretty much a solid level of badassery. I'm not huge on the positioning of the complete diorama. The commander looks like he's simply daintily perched on the tongue of death, rather than dodging/being ensnared by it.

But yeah, there's no arguing with the paint job. Wicked.

Winning is good, explosions are better!

Great paintwork, and I like the diorama too.

I think that the posing of the commander is just right. He's just begun reacting.

I'm not sure about that nid, though. It never struck me as the burrowing type.

Thanks for feedback guys.

Posing may be indeed a little not dynamic, but the problem lays in his legs - this is fine cast, and there was no possibility to change the position of legs, so here is where the problem lays.
But on the other hand we imagined that he escaped thanks to his jetpack, not jumping alone.

Anyway, we will work on posing on our next dioramas, thanks ; )

Seems like using the other foot would have been a better call. Using the bent leg makes it seem like he's pushing off of the tongue. For jumping-away, the straight leg may have been better.

But live and learn. I look forward to more!

The drones, by the way, are cool as hell Pew pew pew!
