Hey All

Played a game last night where the Eldar player had 13 psychic levels, I'm not here to moan because to be honest he really didn't do much with the powers he chose BUT one thing did keep cropping up and it's not the first time this has happened and it's all to do with the Ghost Helm.

He ignores perils no matter who the power is coming from, I don't have the Eldar codex and just took this for granted but after reading a couple of threads it seems that the Ghost Helm only works for the Farseer that is manifesting the power.

Basically which one is right?

When ever in a game something seems fishy or too good to be true I always ask to see the rule in the codex just to make sure the wording is right on what the player is saying it is. this game has a lot of rules to remember just from the BRB alone let alone your codex and everyone elses too!

It's easy to assume that people arguing an interpretation you disagree with are just looking for an advantage for themselves... But it's quite often not the case.

also, if I'm not mistaken the ghost helm only prevents the wound. i think the rest of the ill effects (or bonuses) would still apply. at work no rule book on hand, i could be 100% wrong, but i don't think i am.

You are correct that it only negates the wound. I play it that way and still take any negatives or positives from the perils, but i could also see an Faq (if they ever get a round to writing some) that changes them to ignoring a Perils result all together and if someone wanted to play that way i wouldn't care.

A Ghosthelm only works on the model that has it equipped. It only prevents the wound, not the other effects at the cost of a Warp Charge.

Note, that any effect that causes a Perils that is not part of the Psychic phase, ie MindStrike Missiles CANNOT be prevented with a Ghost Helm as all Warp Charge dice are discarded at the end of the Psychic Phase. Mind Strikes will Nuke a Farseer with little effort and no longer can be prevented with the use of a Ghost Helm.

So he's been negating the wound and the effect completely doing it wrong, it seemed too good to be true I should have asked about it sooner.
