I went with SoT mostly because as a pod list I'll have all those bolters in half range anyway.

HQ

Librarian 1 65

Troops

Tactical Squad 10-man
Plasmagun, combi-Plasma, Heavy Bolter, Drop Pod

Tactical Squad 10-man
Plasmagun, combi-Plasma, Heavy Bolter, Drop Pod

Tactical Squad 9-man
Plasmagun, combi-Plasma, Drop Pod

Tactical Squad 5-man
Meltagun, Meltabombs, combi-Melta, Drop Pod

Tactical Squad 5-man
Meltagun, Meltabombs, combi-Melta, Drop Pod

Elites

Sternguards 10-man
5 Combi-melta, 2 Heavy Flamers, Drop Pod

Heavy Support

Storm Raven
MM, Hurricane Bolters

Librarian takes Telepathy for Psychic Shriek and goes in the 9 man TAC squad. The two 10 man Tac squads will combat squad unless purely kill points(and maybe then too) into: Combi-Plasma, Plasmagun, 3 bolters - Heavy Bolter, 4 Bolters. The heavy bolters will reroll all misses within 18" so even when podding that's not bad on first turn, then they provide medium range shooting support for the plasmas who want to stay in 12". The 9 man Tac with the librarian is a general combat unit. The two Melta Tac squads are tank hunters.

The sternguards will also combat squad and there are more options here. I can go 5 combi meltas in one squad and the two HFs in another if I need to burn down one big vehicle. I could also do a 3/2 split of combi meltas if they need to split them up. If I need two general combat units I could do the 3/2 melta split with 1 HF each. The way I see it, The Pod is about 3-4 inches wide on it's hull, and I get a 6" disembark, that's roughly a 14" spread out from a central point where the pod lands. That should let each half of the Sternguards get to something they can wreck. Each Sternguard Combat Squad would get a TAC Squad as backup, so were looking at 25-30 marines in that group depending on what needs to die.

Storm Raven is my anti flier and anti pretty much anything on the ground. I really like versatility of PotMS. Sending 3 Missiles and a MM at a big ground vehicle while sending a TL Assault Cannon at a light flier with PotMS is great. Most 1500 point lists would have trouble downing a Storm Raven in 1-2 turns when there's already at least 3 marine squads in your face.

I like it. Just Marines and a Flier.

Solid, no complaints from me. 50 Boots on the ground.

9 Combat squadding units.
Plenty of anti tank/anti infantry.

Even number of pods, but considering, still very nice. IMO, the points on the hurricane bolters on the Raven would have gone elsewhere, but that's just me.

Yeh, odd pods are better but I couldn't really squeeze 7 pods and keep the Raven.

Really like the list, especially the number of marines and the bare bones HQ.

Speaking of bones ... Bones of Osrak for the Librarian? Extra warp charge point and re-rolls on failed psychic tests. You'd have to drop something of course ... those Hurricane Bolters would do it.

Also, and I am just playing devil's advocate here, how do you think this list would fare against Orks?

Looks really good to me!

Also just seconding the comments on the Bones of Osrak - pretty nice gear.

One other thing to try might be a 10-man devastator squad with 4 heavy bolters... if you drop it first turn and can keep it alive, that is one nasty unit firing all twin-linked the next turn... I've done this before with 2 of them, and it was quite awesome, never tried just one though. You can even give the sgt. a combi-melta if you really get desperate and have to combat squad and he'll have tank hunter lol! (although not practical obviously)

I also don't find the Hurricane Bolters too useful on the raven, but that's just me. I find myself not getting more than one volley out of them most games (because of arriving late and/or other weapons to fire when spaced out as 2 missiles, other 2 weapons... again next turn.. THEN finally the hurricanes).

I like the list as-is though too!
