That's kinda neat... but, I'd argue that the data may be "dated" to have any impact in the current illegal immigration discourse.

We still need to advertise that we're securing the border. (National Guard, beef'ed up Border Security, drones, etc...) and for ICE to be authorized to bring down the hammer for businesses breaking the law.

I enjoyed reading the article attempting to distinguish between illegal immigration, and undocumented aliens. Also the article defined illegal immigration as "the number of new undocumented workers entering the country each year ", so all those minors now coming across the border will be noticeably absent from the statistics - but not on the tax payer

Also the examination of the foreign born population made no distinction between those here legally, and those here illegally. In fact this lack of distinction comes back at several times during the article.

1. Expand e-verify. Anyone caught willfully hiring illegal aliens is fined $10K per infraction. Serial offenders will get to spend some time in Federal Prison
2. ICE attends rallies by self confessed illegal aliens, and detains all those who have identified as not being here legally. These individuals are then deported to their country of origin as they have already confessed their unlawful status

Oh look MS-13 is actively recruiting them.
