So I recently checked out forgeworld's imperial armor volume 2 and saw inside of it the Seige Dreadnought. (Rough details below)
My question is, what do you think is better for a salamander army:
A) A seige dreadnought
B) An ironclad dreadnought with 2 heavy flamers.
C) Some other dread (p.s. i have plenty of melta in my army so no need to mix it in).
In both cases the role they'd be filling is AI, close quarter disruption and AT firepower redirection. Droppod them right next to a squad where they can get both max flame damage, and then tie up a unit in assault the next turn if a second round of flame doesnt finish said unit off.
___
Seige Dread
120p - Normal Dreadnought statline. (Notably av12/12/10 instead of 13 so less good in assault against krak grenades). Also does not have move through cover. Comes with extraArmour, Flamestorm Cannon and Assault Drill w inbuilt heavy flamer (powfist normally but chainfist against buildings). Droppod wise it must use lucius pattern droppod, which is like a regular droppod but doesnt demand immediate disembark, gains shrouded on turn it arrives, is an assault vehicle (so if you wait inside it and disembark next turn you can assault from it) but has no weapons and can only store dreads (50p).
Ironclad
145p - AV 13/13/10, extra armour, pow fist w inbuilt hvy flamer, seismic hammer w inbuilt hvy flamer. Can use any droppod. Move through cover.
