Like pretty much everyone who went for Strike Team during the KS, I have a gigantic pile of Battlezones sprues, and (much like many other backers), haven't really tackled them yet. What stops me is that I'm not really sure if I want to make some interesting structures and then glue them together, or spend hours before each game putting interesting structures together. The first option would be easier to paint, but seems to defeat the purpose of modular terrain. Tell me, Dakka, what should I do?

Modular pretty much means you can build whatever you can come up with, but once it's together, they don't recommend breaking it down. I asked that specific question, and that was recommended.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I wouldn't glue it unless you come up with some really awesome building.

I've glued mine and am perfectly happy. It's quite a bit of effort to build a new building every time you want to play. Not to mention the connectors can and will snap.

Hot glue gives you benefit of both. If you later decide to pull things apart a hair dryer will loosen glue and you can start again. Standard safety applies on using the hair dryer w/o injuring anyone or damaging the terrain.

Gluing into modular segments seems to be a decent compromise, leaving you the ability to mix and match parts of buildings to create different terrain for each game. But "fully modular" seems a bit too much to aim for effort wise. I haven't done mine yet, but I'm still planning on magnetising a number of things to allow for example roofs to be taken off to allow interior play.

I have glued mine, but I like Yonan's idea of modular segments. It depends upon what you want to use your scenery for as well. If it is skirmish games and few models you could probably get away with just using the connectors, but for a big wargame I would recommend glueing.

I don't glue it at all, but do leave some parts partially assembled between games. Keep a screwdriver (for popping out the connectors) on hand and it's not a huge amount of effort to set up new terrain, especially if you don't insist on using connectors in every possible place.

I've done what Yonan has done with the majority of my scenery, modular sections glued together for easier pre game assembly.

But I'll be honest I've kept a one level hab and watch tower assembled since my second game so I might as well glue it all together.

In my p&m thread I'm making a gate from the fortified district sets and I'll be gluing that into 3 modular sections 2 towers and a gate section.

The other benefit of gluing your sections together is that you can glue plasticard over the plug holes and fill out the gaps between tiles (like terrain tutor is doing) and it looks much better.

I glued mine, but magnetised the roof. I figured I like them so much, and they're cheap enough I can always buy more if I want to make other buildings. And I will!

I'm looking at having some modular structures that can be stacked or connected with barriers or walkways, having everything loose seems like it'd lead to headache.

I picked up one of the urban quadrants and will probably just build as much of the shown buildings as possible. If for whatever reason I decide I want to customize every last piece of my terrain I'll but more later.

So, I've decided to just glue everything together, and that that has proven wonderfully liberating. I finished a watchtower and small cube, and am currently assembling a two-level hab-block with a balcony on the second floor and railings on the top. Once the stress is gone, the battlezones are a lot of fun. Plus I have just many of them...

I didn't glue anything. I store the buildings, fully assembled, in a box at the FLGS and they see plenty of use and I've not had any problems with things coming apart. Plus this way I still have the option to change them if I want (for incorporating the 2 new sprues coming in wave 2, for example!)

After getting through the stuff from the box and an urban quadrant, I would recommend glue.

Especially with the fortified pieces, those bits are a real pain to work with...

Big time, those extra thick tiles look cool but an are they annoying to just clip together especially if your combining with a normal thickness tile.
