I've been looking this up in the last day or two, and there's a useful Dakka Thread here, but given the "no necroposting" rules here, I'm basically going to repost the question, given the state of the game in 2014.
I have six models - so I'm able to run two squadrons of three. Wisdom of the day was:
1) Don't run them at all, since they're not points-efficient - Not a factor for me. I like the models, so I'll be running them.
2) Plasma Cannons. - I don't have a problem with this bit.
3) Auto Cannons. - Likewise. Not a huge problem.
It does look like I'll be playing a modified version of 5th Edition, but with the AM codex units made to work. Not sure about Hull points. Initial IG army size will be 1k points. They don't all need to be in the first 1k, though, and a can even go into a separate force org/army down the line.

Well, I'd say x3 lascannon and x3 autocannons.
but if you have good anti-tank then x6 autocannons. they cna be your transport poppers.
Though, here is what I would recommend, Magnetize them. switch them out as you please.

Sentinels always boil down to these questions.
1. Are they even worth their points?
2. How do I arm them?
Answers:
1. Yes, either variety. Armored even more so than before. At 40 points base is not bad for 12/10/10. Scouts are te same but they have more tactical ability.
2. This answer has more to do with the BS of the sentinel. So, 3 S6 shot, 2 S7, 1 S9, 1 S7/ap2 small blast, or flamer. For armored sentinel, just take the flamer out of the options. What role do you need the sentinels to fill? I just go auto cannon, not over powerfull, mot a ton of shots, just a veritable weapon.

Autocannons all day or even Multi-Lasers if your looking for a good light transport popping and infantry build.

Anything bar the HF is a good choice, but personally, I'd take one plasma cannon squadron and one Autocannon squadron and use them in tandem. The latter pops the transports and the former nukes the contents.

Armoured sentinels with lascannons, and if you can spare the points, HKs missile(s). Get 'em behind some troops to get cover and shoot away, HWT minus orders.
Scout sentinels with autocannons.
HF is more of a lone sentinel in it's own squad, just appearing and burning troops.

I'd never put HKs on Sentinels. Single shot BS3 never sits well with me.
Things I'd keep in mind. Plasma cannons, while capable of hurting your own sentinels, are also likely your most accurate weapons options. I like BS3 and blast, as regardless of BS the weapon type grants you a 1/3 chance to hit without factoring in BS. That aside, ROF is your friend. I'd pay the points for AC, trading out the single shot more a Multilaser grants for wider target selection opportunities. I'd leave the Lascannons at home, since blobs with orders, Vanquisher TCs, and melta vets all do that job better.
