Looking to make a U.S.A. patriotic Tau Army. I kinda want the crisis suits etc...to look like Iron Patriot. Any ideas on a prime color, and the red/ white blue combo? Would a spray brush be more efficient? Is so what colors? Thanx guys!!

I'd say do a digital camp scheme in the same colors as the us infantry

I would suggest I white primer myself. Using Red, White, and Blue for your colors sounds awesome, and the white primer should help them stay true easier than a dark primer.

A Red base with white secondary color and blue trim/highlight sounds pretty sweet. However for a more Iron Patriot look, try a blue base with red secondary and white trim/highlights.

Not a big fan of the ACU color. Besides that is waaaay over my head for skill lol. I like the blue base , red, then white highlights. I will give it a try!

There is an army on Dakka that's painted in gundam color schemes, which is red/white/blue with some yellow accents. That should be a good place to start to get a general idea.

Ww2 style could be cool, white stars, flags on shoulder, if your good on free hand have unit markings on them from famous units like 101st and pin up girl nose art on the fliers.

Even have a twin pistols erethal to nod to general Patton etc :-)

You could have loads of fun with it and be patriotic

Also, bear in mind that red, white and blue are the colours of France, Britain and er... Russia.

You might need to put some more American symbology on them, like eagles and cowboy hats or something.

An Army of Captain America Tau dudes? Even their suits have the shields. I don't come from a very patriotic country but nothing says patriotism more than a man in a flag suit whose idolized.

In my opinion the best way to do an American-flag-based character design is to go the Captain America route. Large sections of solid blue, with red and white stripes and white stars. That iconography should set it apart from other red/white/blue flags easily. I definitely agree that your primer should be white, since that'll keep everything looking bright and shiny.

The comment about cowboy hats amuses me. If you wanted a silly tone, you could give your HQs accessories such as a cowboy hat (or an Uncle Sam hat, which would be amazing), an apple pie, or a football.
