Hi all,
Could use some help ironing out my list for 7th. Own all of the models besides 1 Waveserpent and 1 Prism, so there's not a ton of wiggle room (e.g. I would prefer to run a serpent instead of a falcon). Any help is greatly appreciated! Rangers can be scooped up in the falcon as needed..both hang back.
HQ:
Jetseer w/ spear - 120
Troops:
10 Dire Avengers w/ Exarch, twin-linked shuriken catapult – 145
in a
Waveserpent w/ twin-linked scatter laser and chin cannon + holofields – 145
5 Rangers - 60
6 Jetbikes w/ 2 cannons and jetlock w/ spear - 177
Elites:
5 Fire Dragons – 110
in a
Waveserpent w/ twin-linked scatter laser and chin cannon + holofields – 145
Fast Attack:
Crimson Hunter - 160
Heavy Support:
Fire Prism w/ holofields – 140
Fire Prism w/ holofields – 140
Falcon w/ EML + holofields – 155

If you don't have the 2nd prism don't buy one. They are pretty weak due to the new jink rules, and you have decent AT as it is. I would either get 2 walkers with scatter lasers or lances, or maybe some warp spiders+upgrades.

You could replace the Falcon and a Fire Prism with a Wraithknight. Then use the leftover points to either max out the jetbikes OR you could split the Dire Avengers into 2 units, remove the Rangers and add another Wave Serpent.

remove the falcon, and the hunter.
I completely disagree about the fire prisms, jink has never and will never have any basis on the fire prisms strengths or weaknesses. Hide it partially behind something and itle have a 4+ cover save, position it properly and itle be a 3 in certain situations.
Im guessing your farseer goes with the 6 jetbikes and warlock?
its ok for small games, but its not really that strong and removes a lot of the utility that jetbike troops have to begin with. I would run 2 3man squads of jetbike troops and add some warlocks with your saved points from removing the hunter and falcon.

Thanks for all the replies! Think I will pull the falcon and proxy the model for a waveserpent until I pick another one up. Plan on cutting the rangers and 2nd prism as well. That leaves me with 355 points to play with. I'm favoring leaving the crimson hunter in so I can have some anti-air and add'l vehicle killing if I'm not playing the 2nd prism.
Will split the jetbike squad into 2 squads of 3 for objective secures. Is it crazy to run bike council at this point level? Could dump the remaining points into that and maybe another small squad of bikes.

Keep the Falcon and attach it to the Ranger squad in the unofficial sense. Where the rangers go, so does the Falcon and it can carry them if need be. Maybe ditch the missile launcher for a Scatter Laser, but that's debatable and has to do with if you want your Rangers to lob fire from a distance or if you want them to be a good 'up front' unit. Figure the range you want the Rangers to be at and load up the Falcon with similar ranged weapons. If you cut the Rangers, then yeah, I'd say cut the Falcon as well but they do make a good long-range shooty combo that can pack up and leave if things get too close.
Keep the Crimson Hunter but spend the extra points on Exarch and Marksman's Eye, adding to the precision shot threats that can knock out anti tank in the enemy lists. Meltas, Plasma, that sort of thing get pinpointed on a 5+ and really is a force multiplier when used with advancing armor.
Might look at Warp Spiders to add to the multi-directional and highly mobile pounding you can give if you spread your units out, and can blink in to support the Avengers if need be. Again, similar ranged weapons. Swooping Hawks are another option but don't have AP on their lasblaster. Sadly I haven't been able to use either unit and don't know if my hopes match with reality there.
