Hey all, after a long break since 4th edition ended, a few buddies and myself have come back and played a couple games of 7th. I've been tinkering with my White Scars list and came up with the following.

Chapter Tactics
White Scars

HQ

* Captain (155pts)
Artificer Armor, Bike, Relic Blade

* Command Squad (200pts)
Flamer, 3x Grav-gun, Apothecary, Bikes

Elites

* Dreadnought (135pts)
Missile Launcher, Twin-Linked Lascannon

* Dreadnought (135pts)
Assault Cannon, Twin Linked Autocannon

Troops

* Bike Squad (5x Bikes) (200pts)
2x Grav-gun, Combi-grav, Attack Bike - Multi-Melta

* Bike Squad (5x Bikes) (190pts)
2x Plasma Gun, Combi-grav, Attack Bike - Heavy Bolter

* Bike Squad (5x Bikes) (190pts)
2x Plasma Gun, Combi-plasma, Attack Bike - Heavy Bolter

Fast Attack

* Land Speeder Squadron (150pts)
* Land Speeder
Heavy Bolter, Typhoon Missile Launcher
* Land Speeder
Heavy Bolter, Typhoon Missile Launcher

* Land Speeder Squadron (160pts)
* Land Speeder
Multi-Melta, Multi-Melta
* Land Speeder
Multi-Melta, Multi-Melta

* Stormtalon Gunship (145pts)
Twin-Linked Assault Cannon, Typhoon Missle Launcher

Heavy Support

* Predator (115pts)
Autocannon, Lascannons

* Thunderfire Cannon

* Vindicator

I think my main idea of playing this list is to use the bike squads to secure and hold objectives while the other elements of the army apply as much pressure and pummel the enemy units as much as possible.

A few recommendations:

1) Drop the captain and throw in the Khan, his army-wide buff is great

2) I would specialize your bike squads: all grav + apoc in the command squad, all melta in one bike squad, all flamers + HB in another and all plasma in the 3rd. That way each squad has a role.

3) I get the ML/TLLC dread for long range firepower but the other one is a bit random (AC and TLAC don't particularly complement each other), I would go dual TLAC on it, or even better, go with the Mortis Mrk V dread with dual TLAC (FW rules) it provides Skyfire/Interceptor.

4) the Skyhammer ML is the "de-facto" choice typically on the Stormtalon, while the typhoon ML is good it sinks a lot of points on a fairly fragile frame.

5) The lone Vindicator is a bit of an "odd man out" in an army that's very fast moving. The firepower is great but I feel that it's gonna get taken out early on. I would almost go with dual preds or dual vindis.

Overall though it seems like a nice fluffy WS list that should do well on the board.

Hope this helps.

Thanks! My previous list didn't have much supporting fire, so I upped the ante a bit to help my bikes out.

I like a lot of your recommendations and I do see where you're coming from. This was my thinking when I originally built the list, but I think I will shuffle things around with your suggestions in mind.

1) I flipped flopped between khan and a captain, mainly for the relic blade and it's extra str in case i needed it.

2) Some mixed weapons for versatility, but I see the benefit in having assigned roles.

3) The Assault Cannon, AC dread was to get extra shots and some rending. I do agree the range difference is quite large between the two guns. We generally don't do any FW, though a dual AC dread w/ Skyfire and Interceptor would have been nice. Dual AC does sound good either way.

4) The TML seemed more reliable at scoring penetrating hits with the higher str. Pretty expensive yes. I could probably use the extra points somewhere else by going with the SkyHammer.

5) More of a fun factor with the Vindi. It's short range has me worried as well.
