GW have been building fluff for Grukk since the 7th ed rulebook and have recently established him in both the Ork Codex and Sanctus Reach books. Come next week he gets his own model and rules as well.

Problem is Grukk's already dead. Listening to the new audiobook Klaw of Mork it very briefly mentions he was killed and then replaced by Big Mek Mogrok as leader of the Red Waaagh.

It seems a little strange to me they would go through all this trouble to establish him only to briefly and unceremoniously announce his death in an audiobook. It has me thinking that perhaps this audiobook really should have been released at a later date.

Bit of a weird one

I don't know any way of addressing this question without 'spoiling' the narrative (unless you've actually read the Sanctus Reach campaign book that's out already), so:

Spoiler:
Is this his actual death, or his perceived death after Gerantius kicks over a battlewagon on top of him? I mean, Mogrok replaces him after that, but his loyal Goff Nobs find him still alive in the wreckage. Does Mogrok replace him AGAIN?

"Klaw of Mork" takes place in the build-up to what you are referring to, Butcha.

So yeah, he's still alive and kicking. In fact that's what "Stormclaw" is dealing with. The reestablishment of Grukk as a threat what with "Gofftown" and the takeover that his Goffs made of an island.

Orks, especially bigger ones, are rather hard to put down. There's a rather funny bit in Waaagh Ghazghkull about Ghaz winning over a warband by decapitating it's boss (twice).
