Hello fellow gammers I am looking for advise.
I am quite tired of paying $20 a can for GW or Army Painter spray paint. I am looking for an alternative matt spray paint, that would be available through Walmart or Canadian Tire. I would like it to be ideally under $10 a can. One thing though is it needs to be 100% matt. Let me know if you have any suggestions please. Thanks!

Utilizing Careful Highlighting

Any black automotive primer would usually do the job quite well. I can't recommend specific brands because what's available on my side of the world is not avaible there, so other US people can help you out more in that front. But in any case: cheap auto primer that comes in black. They're cheap enough that you can buy a bunch and test them out first on a sprue.

Duplicolor is highly recommended and is what Allison McVey used when she painted for Privateer Press.

I use Krylon's black spray primer. It goes on smoothly, evenly, and not too thick. Cans cost 5-8 bucks at a hardware store. I've also used Rustoleum black primer but it can go on really thick if you're not careful.

The entire Krylon Camoflage Ultra Flat range has worked very well for me.

I've used the cheap dollar flat black and it works just fine. You have to take a little care not to overdo it and cover up detail, but it works.
