Hey dakka!

Long time Tyranid player, I recently started an ork army because they just look fun to play. Currently however my collection lacks the mass of ork bodies one would envision an Ork army to be, so i'm trying to improvise.

This coming monday is the final game in a 2-month league campaign, I'm tied for the top spot with another player (who also plays orks but has played them for much longer than I have.) I came up with the idea to ally in some of my tyranids for 2 reasons:

1.) I'm a tactical surgeon with my nids (see my sig). I know them and love them, and typically do well with them in games.
2.) It helps add to my points totals, while i'm still in the beginning stages of collecting my orks.

The fluff behind this alliance i came up with is: My painboy and his lads got into a scrap with a splinter fleet of Hive Fleet Tigris ( my nids). They krumped a lictor or two, and the painboy extracted some pheremones to inject 'is lads wit. Until the effect wears off, the hive fleet won't detect my orks. Rolling a '1" on the 'one eyes open' chart means either my tyranids are sniffing around, having caught a whiff of ork blood, or my orks are halting and holding stock-still, hoping the nearby tyranids don't notice their presence. So there's the fluff, here's the list:

Primary Detachment: CAD - Faction: Orks

HQ - Painboy - 50
HQ - Big mek - da finkin' kap, 'eavy armor, KFF - 99
EL - 6x Burna Boyz, 2x meks - 96
TP - 21 Shoota Boyz - 'eavy armor, 2x big shoota, Nob - shoota, bosspole, Klaw -281
TP - 12x Shoota Boyz - 'eavy armor, 1x big shoota, Nob - shoota, BP, PK, Trukk - Ram - 212
TP - 12x Shoota Boyz - 'eavy armor, 1x Big shoota, Nob - shoota, BP, PK, Trukk - Ram - 212
TP - 11x Gretchin, Runtherd - Grot prod, squig hound - 45
HVY - 8x Lootas - 112
HVY - Looted Wagon - KillKannon, 1x Big shoota, 2x Rokkit Launcher, Ram - 87
HVY - Mek Gunz - 3x lobba, 3x ammo runt, 6x crew - 63

Allied Detachment - Faction: Tyranids
HQ - Hive Tyrant - wings, 2x TL dev, E. shock grubs - 240
EL - 1x Zoanthrope - 50
TP - 3x Ripper swarms, Deep strike - 45
HVY - 1x Carnifex - 2x TL Dev, Spine Banks - 155

Total - 1,750 points

The mission will be kill points primary, plus Maelstrom of War tactical objectives as secondary points. My opponent will most likely be bringing a pure ork list, but he may change up his tactics before the game, i don't know.

Feedback appreciated from all!

The question with two come the apocalypse swarm armies is how often are you going to get in your own way because your units are within 12" of each other? There is not much synergy in this list.

The tyranid list is a dakkafex a flyrant a walking Zoey and 3 deep striking rippers. I have confidence I can keep them 6+" from my boyz most of the game.

Looks cool... I'd have thought of using Genstealers if you know you're facing Orks...you can Outflank a Brood or two, and cause real harm. Vs Orks you just might get into contact. Let us know how this works out. I'd like to know!

I'd have Fluff" spammed Deathleaper, who is here to kill the rival Warboss, and could care less about his coincidental allies...plus a hunting pack of Stealers...?

I may try those in the future. Tactics wise I wanted to include the fex and tyrant for firepower alone.

Pretty sad that Tyranids provide a firepower upgrade. Good luck, and good hunting.
