I have decided to start a little PLog since I am always looking at what everyone else is up to I figure I should put up my stuff as well. I'm not a great painter, but I have been upping my game lately and spending more time on it as well as investing in some nice brushes and additives. I am in the process of building up a Dark Eldar army, as well as refurbishing my old 3rd ed Chaos Marines army. You may also see the occasional bit of terrain, Necromunda models, and whatever else catches my interest.

First up we have a few things that I have recently finished on for my CSM:

The lord from the DV starter set that I am using as a Sorcerer:

It's hard to tell in the pictures since they aren't great, but I tried to do some wet blending in the recesses on the back of his cloak. It didn't work out well and after covering it and trying again about 3 times I went back to my standard method of just hitting it with a slight highlight at the top and giving it a black wash. The added layers kinda messed up the smooth finish in one spot but its fairly minor and hard to notice in the recess.

It doesn't have its own picture, but the Land raider he is standing on I assembled and painted about 10+ years ago when I was much more concerned with getting it on to the battlefield than how it looked. I had done a pretty slapdash job of assembling it and I think I threw every spikey bit in the CSM vehicle sprue onto it. I spent a solid couple hours scraping glue and spikes and such off of it (and I only got plastic/old superglue in my eye twice!). Gave it a new coat of primer and am in the middle of painting some of the raised portion red.

Next we have a few shrines to the Chaos gods for use as Objective Markers:

They are bits of pink foam cut into rocky shapes and carved the chaos symbols into them, these were mounted on Secret Weapon Miniatures resin lava bases. It's a bit hard to see, but the chaos symbols have the same lava effect painted into them as well.

And a touch of DE to finish it off. This is my Duke Sliscus model:

The model is the Dark Elves Shadowblade with a Blast Pistol and leg holster/clip to hold it, and a couple little surface wires added to his armor to make it a little less fantasy-esque.

That's it for today, C&C is always welcome.

No comments eh? Well I guess I'll just keep on with it anyway. Today we have some WIP shots of the bunker I am making for my CSM.

Front

Side and Escape Hatch

Back

It's made from foamcore, some thin plasticard for the doors, a bit of plasticard L angle, and some Chaos vehicle bits. You may notice one of the fire points is a bit cock-eyed; I'm not quite sure how it happened, but I really should go back and fix it, though that sounds like a pita so maybe not. You I plan on testing it out by throwing 16 Berzerkers with a character into it and having them exit the escape hatch, move, and run to be 19"-24" up the field first turn. Then a squad of Havocs or just normal CSM will move into the bunker. Next I'll be taking a shot at some greenstuff sculpting by making a few evil eyes to watch over the doorways.

Well, I probably should have taken a few more WIP shots on the the GS sculpting, but they are done and painted and I have to say it was much easier than expected.

As you can see the bunker is mostly painted at this point, it just needs a few more details, then some washing and weathering to be all finished. You can see in the first picture one of the banners I made with the GS left over aft the eyes were done.

Front with GS banner and Chaos Star painted on.

Back

A little ways to go on it, but I think the bunker is looking good. Now I need to figure out what to do with the escape hatch. I tried painting a standard brown/green camo scheme on it, but that didn't work out, and now it's back to black at the moment. Suggestions?

By the next post the bunker should be done (hopefully), and you should be seeing the start of my new Infinity force.

Canada eh?

Very well done! I was wondering though do you like writing/making up lore? Its easy to assume why the Dark Eldar and the chaos crusade would work together... But it interests me to see what kind of deranged motives flow in these wicked minds.

Yeah... Not the best person to talk to no more, great fandom(sarcasm)

Thanks for checking it out Sneshy! As for the lore, unfortunately I'm no good at that sort of thing, the best I can give you is the name of the Dark Eldar force is The Kabal of the Steel Dawn. And that's from the random DE kabal name generator over on The Dark City. I've had the CSM for 10+ years and they still don't have a name or any fluff, other than being mostly Khorne and a touch Tzeentch focused. If I had a Slaanesh force it would definitely be cool to come up with a way for them to work with the Dark Eldar somehow.
