So I have throwing around the idea of building an unusual list for CSM, at least, that would be focused completely on pressure. My primary concern, outside of getting shot up, is air based armies. I actually think this list would do well enough getting into assault, that heavy air armies would still have problems. Anyways, here is the basic outline of the army. Some of the things like marks, rewards, and so forth, are going to be changes.

CSM

Lord, bike, LC, PF, MoN, Horns, Daemon Heart, sigi -215

Troops

10 x Cultist - 50
10 x Cultist - 50

Fast

5 x Spawn, MoN, - 180
7 x Raptors, 2 x melta, Champion Melta bombs, MoS, 164
7 x Raptors, 2 x melta, Champion Melta bombs, MoS, 164

Heavy

Maulerfiend - 125
Maulerfiend - 125
Maulerfiend - 125

Daemons

Herald of Korne, Juggernaut, Greater Reward (Greater Etherblade), Great Loci of Fury, - 140
Karanak - 120

Troops

10 x Daemonette - 90

Elite

4 x Bloodcrushers - 180

Fast

10 x Flesh Hounds - 160

Total: 1888 (112 points short, I know).

The plan would be to run the lord with the spawn, Karanak with the bloodcrushers, and the herald with the hounds. The hound and crusher units would then have scout, which I would use. Everything, the HQs units, the maulerfiends, and the jump pack units, would rush and get into CC. I have a a little extra points to work with, which will probably go into a plague marine unit, or may two more units of cultists.

Anyways, what do you think about this list. I know it is missing AA, but I think that will be minimized by the assault nature of the army and the tendency it will have to get into combat really fast.

Does karanak count as a herald for hq purposes? Add another daemon troop to get a second full CAD.

I would swap out the daemonettes for horrors, giving you a psychic phase to reinforce your rear field.

All rushing is a fun way to play. You are mixing armour and infantry, so your not wasting any of your enemies weapons, if you get my meaning. If you swapped out the maulers for more fast daemons then your opponent doesn't get free first blood shooting the mailers with anti tank weapons. That said, maulers are pretty great.
I think you will struggle with knights. Maulers have too low initiative, and not much else is a real threat. Screamers might be a good call.

Anti air is an obvious risk. Maybe a unit if havocs with flakk, or an aa fortification of some kind.

Whoops... there doesn't seem to be anything here.

Thank you for the reply. The FAQ removed the word "primary" from the language in the herald section. So, it is my understanding that even an allied detachment can take up to 4 heralds. Let me know if I am wrong.

Swapping out horrors for daemonettes is not a bad idea. Easily done. I can experiment with both.

I see the issue you are talking about and it makes perfect sense. However, I am fully anticipating that my opponent will focus on something, and I would rather it be a maulerfiend than one of the HQ choices (which will be pain in the ass to kill later in the game). As far as anti-armor goes, I do have the raptors, and the lord, although I wouldn't want to send them after a knight. However, while knight are mobile, they are not going to be able to delete everything I have on the. Knights don't fair well against MSU and that is what we have hear. I am aware that if the get into cc with my maulers that the maulers will perish.

No havocs for me. I am fundamentally against them. They do not earn their points back, and they take up a heavy spot. If anything, I would drop the raptors and take heldrakes. Do you think that is a good idea.

You can spend the last 100 or so points on slaanesh seekers with an icon and deepstrike your demonettes.

Good idea!
