A few friends and I have recently got back into the hobby after a 10 year sabbatical, starting off with kill team before we dive head first Into massive 40k armies.
I've always had a love for conversions and adding extra bitz to try and add some character, and once again find myself doing to much of that rather than painting or playing with my miniatures.
But here I have a dilema.
I've been working on an ork kommando nob. he's based on the metal figure as that's such an awesome looking figure but my green stuff skills are low to say the least trying to hack and slash where I can, although they've improved from when I was 15.
I'm having difficulties settling on a pose. below are the options ive narrowed it down to, although the pistol arm is smaller than the other and im put off by it slightly, and unsure whether the double knife makes him look like he's rowing a boat.
opinions and suggestions please!
some ideas for the shoulder area would be great also! im trying to refrain from adding armour, keeping them as 'sneaky' as possible.
Thanks!

Wot's faster than a warbuggy, more killy than a warbike, and flies through da air like a bird? I got no bleedin' idea, but I'm gonna find out.

Looks solid, but the pictures are sideways. From what I can tell the execution is very good, and great work with the greenstuff too! Straighten the pictures up if you can and I'll give a fuller critique.

Thanks for sharing, I wouldn't go too much more crazy with bits, he's already got a lot going on and if you go too much more it might wind up being too busy. Just my opinion on that end.

Take it easy and I look forward to seeing more once you get the pictures righted.

You don't know me son, so I'll explain this to you once: If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me, and you'll be armed.

Pose 2 with the slugga and knife looks best to me

Thanks guys! appreciate the feed back. I'm a fan of the slugga pose, unfortunatley the arms are different sizes so its putting me off a bit
I've been playing again though and made a few alternative slugga poses. not quite as dynamic as the first but they're ok.

B is my favourite. Poses like A, with the weapon waving way over the base edge, I find annoying - and they're also more prone to breakages.

I like the bare-armed 'Rambo' look, and agree he shouldn't wear armour. And I think he should be loaded up with as much equipment as possible (which indirectly gives some armour protection, if anyone moans ).

thank you sal4m4d3r! your quite welcome too I used a spare nob pole and adjusted it accordingly
although I had to pin it with a heated paper clip as I lack a drill
I don't recommend that.
im considering a gilly suit and a metal gear solid 'snake in a box' for a couple of the boys. thoughts?
Clang do you mean the first 'B'? I should of labelled them differently sorry!

I'm finished! (i think)

I have some straps to finish on the shoulder pouches, and possibly add something to the other side, although my attempt at a bundle of rope was AWFUL and i don't think more pouches are needed. so suggestions still welcome before i start painting the bad boy. Thanks for all your critique on it so far!
now just the rest of the squad to make..... i'll add some pictures of the finished article when im done.
Thanks again guys, i hope you like the result!

really, really impressed with your greenstuf work! you should be able to make some rope pretty easily! I would just roll out a long string and spool it in an oval. Take a second, seperate and smaller roll and either wrap it around the middle or through the top bend.

fanny pack..or ootility belt

Awesome work! Love how you did the goggles...mind telling those of us who also intend to make own kommandos how you did it?

Certainly!
first i made a small strip of green stuff as the base 'band' to go round both characters heads, this was smoothed and shaped. i let it dry completely looked over it again and made further changes with a scalpel to make sure it was square.
For the ork I used a spare spear, cut to equal-ish lengths and stuck those to the band. For the 'lense' part, i rolled a tiny amount of green stuff into a ball, placed it onto the minature and flattened it. This was the same for the grot, although i let his sit for 10-15 minutes then got a paper clip and pushed into the 'lenses' a bit to make the definition of the rim.
most importantly keep tools wet and be patient. a lot easier said than done i know ha

i hope this helps!

Yeah looks dead rippy. silent ork death from the shadows, liked the double choppa option but the silenced slugga is great.
nice work on the green stuffing too.
