I mainly play Tau, but I have decided to start a second army. I have always loved the CSM models and the nurgle fluff, so I started experimenting with lists. So far, this is what I have.

HQ:

Chaos Terminator Lord: Blight grenades, MoN, SoC, Terminator Armour w/ Power weapon + Combi-bolter -- 150 points.

ELITES:

2x Terminators w/ MoN, LC, and C-Ms, 1x Champion with CB and LC -- 134 points.

TROOPS:

20x Cultists: 1x Flamer and 1x Champion -- 95 points.

5x Plague Marines: Champion w/ Boltgun and CCW, 2x plasmas -- 150 points.

5x Plague Marines: Champion w/ Boltgun and CCW, 2x plasmas and a Rhino -- 185 points.

FAST ATTACK:

Heldrake w/ Belflamer -- 170 points.

HEAVY SUPPORT:

5x Havocs: 4x ACs, Champion with Bolt pistol and CCW

For 999 points.

Lord will go with the termies, attacking things at midrange and killing infantry. the Plague marines in a rhino will move forward towards objectives while the other squad will focus on CC. The Heldrake will be an all purpose killer, while the havocs destroy any light-mid armour tanks i have trouble with. The cultists will be sitting on an objective/soaking up fire (hopefully).

I am not sure what needs to be improved, and I am hoping an expert at Chaos can tell me what i need to change. My next step is 1500 points, adding daemon allies and I have no clue what I need in order to be successful.

Thanks!

This list looks great and a really solid start of a new army.
Well the next thing would obviously be adding more Terminators, because three of them are quickly wiped out.

Btw, note that you are paying 25 points to improve your Lord's invunerable by one.

And while the Plague Marines are often praised, the regular Chaos Space Marines are still awesome.
With MoN, they are 16ppm, so only two thirds of Plague Marine's cost. And they can take heavy weapons as well.
So as you move to 1500 points, I would definitely consider making a squad of them.

A Daemon Prince is also never a bad idea...

Do you think that removing the rhino as well as the sigil of corruption to get another terminator (possibly two if i find something else to remove) would be worth it? I think adding a daemon prince for my 2nd HQ will be very nice as i go towards 1.5k. How do you feel about daemon allies?

I made another (tentative) list, removing the Sigil from the lord, and taking away the rhino. I also changed one squad of PM to having 2 meltas, and increased the terminator squad to five termies. I did, however, take off their combi-meltas and just gave them the combi-bolters. I feel as if this list wouldn't be as strong, because although I am gaining a larger terminator squad, I am losing mobility. However, I'm not sure if this is a problem as I've never played CSM before. what are your thoughts on this list instead?

Swap lord out for typhus so your cultist are zombies.

He is a sorc n can contibute to warp charge so you build rest of daemon factory.

Typical daemon factory is

4 tzeentch heralds with mastery 3

2 squads of pink horrors

Soul grinders or daemon prince flyers or more psykers or screamer star.

I would still keep the one Rhino. As you said, you would lose a lot of mobility.
Just hang on with the Terminators you got. You can add more at 1500 points.

Daemon allies are a good idea, but I don't know much about them so I'll leave that for wiser people.

I like the idea of taking typhus, but he is just so expensive espesically at 1k points.. At 1.5 it would be reasonable so maybe I will swap out.

In low point games don't over look the joys of deep striking the termies. I've won many low value games just from one good surprise termie drop.

I personally love having daemon allies, but I will say this. They're squishy. Very very squishy. I would keep to one maybe two gods at most because it gets hectic with the warpstorm table. It really does.

Nurglings are amazing. 4 wounds per base and they have infiltrate and shrouded. Take them, infiltrate to an objective and laugh as they hold for the entire game.
Plaguebearers are also very good. Shrouded, slow and purposeful makes them hard to get across the table, but let em jump in a rhino and you've got a squad of poison 4+ dudes to kill with.

However. My favorite all time unit. Screamers. I love them!! They're jetbikes, they jink at 4+, clear 36" a turn, and when they turo boost over a unit it takes D3 S4 attacks PER screamer that passes ver them. Plus it hits on 4s regardless. They're part of the screamer star that's so good plus they're 2 wounds a model. Re-rollable 1s on saves thanks to daddy tzeentch. Give them a deamon prince or a hearld on a disc to go with them and have the grimoire of true names and then you've got a 2+ rerollable save on a very scary unit. Plus they have lampreys bite which allows you to pop any tank you want at S8 ap2 with armor bane.

There are a LOT of options, but I wanted to toss out my personal favorites that I like to ally with csm and wreck havoc!

Also, remember. Blood for the blood god, Skulls for the skull throne!

Chaos is everything and everywhere. Nothing is sacred.
