So, about a year ago I finally had enough of
GW and quit
40k. Everything I've seen since has vindicated my decision (especially the 7th edition (no) rules

, I mean eldar and slaanesh can be on the same side? Really?

)
I haven't missed it, I'm getting my sci-fi fix from
DZC and Infinity and am loving it

BUT where I'm struggling is fantasy. I got a Mantic Ogre army for
KoW and have been really disappointed with the quality of the miniatures and the background. I've played Bushido and loved it but it doesn't do big battles, so I found myself browsing the
GW website looking at their fantasy models and being really impressed. I've not played fantasy since 3rd edition (yes I am an old git

) and it's really come a long way. Reading people's reviews of the current 8th edition rules I've been astonished to find phrases like 'tactical', 'well balanced ' and 'great fun'. You know, the kind of things that usually
don't get said about
40k and it's made me even more interested - especially as I've found it to be remarkably affordable (and I never thought I'd say that about a
GW game but a 2000 pt army only costs about 30% more than a 2000 pt Mantic army for
IMO a lot more than 30% better quality).
Still, being
GW it can't avoid a nagging doubt... The 9th edition rumours that have been circulating that fantasy will be made into mediaeval
40k would be a complete turn off. Which brings me nicely to the point of this thread.
First, is there any truth to those rumours?
And second, if fantasy isn't getting trashed when is 9th edition due and is it worth waiting for before I splash the cash on rules, army book etc. for this edition.
Thanks in advance for your advice,
