I'm looking to get into BFG, to play against my friends, and with GW closing the BFG line (and thus raising Ebay prices to above GW's prices) I have come to the conclusion that I'll have to find/make substitutes.

Given that my 40k TT army is from a non-IOM human world, I was thinking that these models could work for my fleet.

What I really need to know is, what sort of sizes do BFG's Imperial Navy ships come as on the TT, and what size bases do they need?

Basically they are standard round flight stands - the Firestorm Armada sets though are square based models, however from memory BFG mostly runs on from the stem of the flight base.

That said your biggest problem is that most Firestorm ships are a bit bigger, dreadnoughts are huge compared to BFG ships. So you're s stuck with cruisers - and if you want to use Imperial or Chaos they've a lot of ship variety that you just won't get.

In other news I've got some BFG models (Imperial, some chaos, some space marine - plus the rule book and box contents) that I've been meaning to put up for sale. If you're interested drop me a pm and I'll see about getting some photos and we can discuss if you want to go that route.

I can't really buy atm, I'm gonna have to wait around for sufficient money to start. I do have some materials for scratch building though, so some ship sizes would be very helpful.

Battleships and grand cruisers use large flying bases. Everything else uses small flying bases,
Battleship hulls are around 5" long, cruiser hulls 3.5" long.
