So I have created a free games threads where people can recommend free video games that have been made for PC. What are some free games that you have played that you would like to recommend?

Can we recommend non-PC games? Injustice, on the iPhone and android devices, is a fantastic free game, I've logged tons of hours into it: you start with three random, weak characters, and they get stronger as they fight (like an action RPG). They have three levels of special attacks, that include tapping the screen, sliding your finger, etc. As you win, you gain money to unlock stronger characters and different suits. Each suit has its own abilities. They've also added gear in recently, which can be swapped between whatever characters you want, and some grant bonus abilities to certain characters (Atlantean trident gives bonus damage to Aquaman). You also get challenges that last two weeks-ish. Is it the greatest video game ever made? No. Is it the best free iPhone game I've ever seen? Absolutely.

Essentialy any moba. (Smite, Dota 2, LoL, dawngate)

Blacklight retribution if you want FPS.

And the myriad of F2P games out there.

Here's a few of the games I've played lately (most of the games I play are free)

Dwarf Fortress - it's like the Sims, except with incredibly stupid and psychopathic dwarves. And much worse graphics (much much worse)

Triangle Wizard - A Roguelike game that is real time and action oriented. Plays kind of halfway between a RL and a shootemup (if such a thing is possible)

DoomRL - Doom done up as a Roguelike. Not nearly as much BS fake difficulty or absurd complesity as most RL games. That said, I have never beaten it, even on easy. Actually plays like a "top down shooter".

Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries - A mech driving campaign game. Much more traditional than my previous offerings. The company who made this game released it free to celebrate an event at some point in the distant past. The free download and patches are still out there if you look in the right place (mektek)

I don't know about PC, but on Android:

Thor 2: The Dark World is decent if you like your Elves dark and your Gods thundery. Fairly simple top-down beat-up game, but pretty cool.

In a similar vein, Iron Man 3 is good too, a cross between a shooter and Temple Run.

Asphalt 8 is a nice driving game if you can suspend disbelief, and I think you can get it on PC as well.

@timetowaste: thanks for the heads up about Injustice. I've been looking at the Xbox version, didn't know the tablet version was free/decent.

Team Fortress 2! (if you don't know what this is then you should be ashamed to call yourself a gamer)

Lord of the Rings online! (See above)

Fistful of Frags! (Cowboy FPS based around Gunplay. No fast fire-quick reload guns here. some gun can take almost 20 seconds to fully reload, and Most sniper rifles have only 1 round per clip. Initially a mod for Half-Life 2)

MMO's only one i would recommend would be SWTOR, and that's just because the storyline is that good.
