Our group has been discussing this lately. So, how does everyone like the table deployment to be?

Long to long?
Short to short?
Corner to corner?
Or some other setup?

Do tell please.

Long to long. I hate being spread thin and be mere turns away from the enemy. I like a few turns of moving and advancing before the fighting starts.

Bigger the board the better. Unless my opponent is an assault army.

Depends on army style, shooty army short to short

Long edge to long edge, more ability to spread out or deny a flank.

Alternatively, my old BA list in 5th. 'Deployment zone? What deployment zone?' *deploys Assault Marines, Terminators, flying Land Raiders and SanGuard, all within 18 of the enemy* "We might as well clear away the other half of the board now..."

Long to Long. Inevitably when I play Short to Short I'm matched up against a long range shooty army...

edit: I'm smrt.

my vote is long to long.

i play 'nids. Short to short break my range advantage against most with my 36", and vanguard messes up my outflanking (it's judged as the long edge being the player's table edge)

I'm fine with both long-long and short-short. I just hate diagonal lines, circles, and all the other stuff that can't be easily measured.

1400 points of EW/MW Italians (FoW)
2200 points of SoB and Inquisition (40K)
1000 points of orks (40K)

Four 1000-2500 point forces for WHFB (RIP)
One orc team (Blood Bowl)

Long to long is dawn of war deployment right?

For the guy who leaves it all on the field (because he doesn't pick up after the game).
Keep on rolling

Yeah. Sorry, should've added that.

Since I play an IG army, I like the short to short deployment zones. It makes my shoot that much more nastier.

Short Edge to Short Edge. I have a lot of walls and buildings set up on the dining table usually. At both ends is a so of fort with Aegis Defence Lines and Walls of Martyrs'. Makes a slow game that speeds up very quickly whenever someone tries to attack the other fort and the end of the table.

Sounds pretty cool. I'd say there's also scope for a 'capture the flag' type game mode, where there isno turn limit, units that are killed go into reserve, and you get a war of attrition until one side can get a relic-style 'flag' into the enemy base.

I have only played it once, but a deepstrike fun is always good. The entire force sets up in Deep Strike or reserves and absolute mayhem ensures.

Yes indeed, this is just priceless.
"I've deployed."
"But you haven't put any models down."
"Like I say, I've deployed. Tell you what, you have the first turn..."
